The unveiling of dazzling holiday lights and the spirit of the season permeate downtown St. George as the City of St. George and 94.9 Cat Country team up to host the annual Kickoff to Christmas program, Nov. 27 at 6 PM at Historic Town Square.

Cat Country radio personalities Aaronee Cottam and D.J. Tischner will emcee the multi-faceted event, while St. George Mayor Michele Randall and members of the City Council will lead the crowd in a caroling countdown to the unveiling.

“This event always sets a positive and inspiring tone for the season,” said Mayor Michele Randall. “Each year, it is one of my great joys and honor to join our community at Town Square and feel the holiday spirit.”

Along with the traditional countdown to the tree lighting, the festivities include:

  • Free cookies and hot chocolate are available for the first 1,500 in attendance, provided by Hedgehog Electric & Solar.
  • Musical performances by elementary school choirs.
  • An ugly sweater contest.
  • Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, available for photos in front of the St. George Carousel.
  • The St. George Carousel will have extended hours, running from 11 AM to 8 PM.
  • Extended hours for the St. George Children’s Museum, which will be open until 8 PM.

“Our community rocks! We love celebrating and connecting with our listeners and people all over Southern Utah,” Cottam said. “The Kickoff to Christmas has caroling, an ugly sweater contest, musical performances, Santa Claus, and Christmas lights. What more could you want?”
