Arrowhead Gallery ETC’s September featured artists are Robert Ford and Deann Rex. A reception will be held Sept. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, located at, 68 E. Tabernacle St. in St. George.
Ford has more than 40 years’ experience as a professor, field researcher, consultant, and conservation scientist in Africa, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In his photography, he says that he tries to focus on using his work to highlight what the National Geographic Society defines as “geotourism,” the concept that destinations should remain unspoiled for future generations, while allowing for ways to protect a place’s character. In 2010, he took time off to travel across America and to build a house in Rockville, and he continues consulting, teaching, and photography.
Rex says her inspiration is drawn from all the amazing wonders and the incredible beauty of this world and that her heart pounds and her eyes are astounded as she truly enjoys all that the earth provides. She says she looks for beauty around every corner, in the pose of a person, the sway of a tree, the colors of nature, someone’s eyes, the innocence of a child, and all of the many nuances of color and form. She says her passions are painting and studying art. She says she loves to study great works of art at every opportunity and that sharing this passion with others makes life more enjoyable for her. She is also a winner of numerous “best of show” awards and blue ribbons.
