When strolling in downtown St. George, Patrick Sullivan’s “O’Keefe 5” is one of the Art Around the Corner pieces that will surely catch your eye. It is clean and strong and definitely deserves a moment of your time.
According to the Art Around the Corner website, “’O’Keefe 5′ is part five in an ongoing series of sculptures in marble honoring the famous American artist Georgia O’Keefe. Each sculpture is unique and is generally inspired by one of her paintings. The series has the connection of love for nature & sensuality of form.”
Local artist Patrick Sullivan lives in Pine Valley. He has an extensive collection of marble sculptures that are all unique and portray his inventive style. “O’Keefe 5” stands out not only through its medium and form but also through clean lines. It is beauty and femininity combined with strength and power. Stand for a moment in front of it, and you can’t help but feel how these themes connect with both nature and time, making this a piece you will certainly remember.
The Art Around the Corner Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts, enriching the community, and bringing fine arts to the heart of historic St. George. Two of the foundation’s projects include the Art On Main gallery strolls, and the Art Around the Corner Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit, a collection of sculptures from nationally-renowned artists. Many of the sculptures are for sale, with new exhibitions installed annually. Others have been purchased from the artists and remain part of an ongoing exhibit of St. George City’s permanent collection.
Formerly know as the Dixie Arts Foundation and the Pioneer Center for the Arts Foundation, the Art Around the Corner Foundation was originally formed in 1988.
