Author Diane Alisa will be in St. George on Friday, February 6, to discuss her book A Love Letter to Suburbia: How to Restore the American Village, a thoughtful exploration of how suburban neighborhoods can become more connected, walkable, and resilient.
Drawing from the ideas in her book, Alisa will speak about people-centered design and how reimagining suburban spaces can strengthen community life and improve everyday experiences. Rather than seeing suburbs as places of isolation, Alisa argues that designing for people instead of cars unlocks opportunities for deeper connections, richer daily interactions, and a stronger sense of local identity.
The event will feature a conversation with Alisa focused on community-centered design and suburban revitalization, bringing together local residents, advocates, planners, and others interested in building more sustainable, people-focused communities in Southwest Utah.
The donation-based, pay-what-you-can event supports local community programming aimed at creating thriving, connected neighborhoods throughout the region.
