With the return of school routines, parents and adults may find themselves ready for some well-deserved fun—and So U Comedy Theater is serving it up with improv shows, community workshops, and special events this fall.
A Night Out with Improv
So U’s improv shows are an unexpected twist on the standard night out. Audience members call out suggestions, and the cast builds scenes, characters, and jokes in the moment. No two shows are ever alike, which keeps the comedy sharp and spontaneous.
At 7 PM, the Family-Friendly Show offers fun for all ages. Later at 9 PM, the Uncensored Show pushes the boundaries, creating a perfect choice for date night or an evening with friends. Both shows are performed at the Electric Theater Center (upper room 2) on September 6 and 20, with tickets available online or at the door.
Improv for Everyone
So U is also investing in the community through education. Every Monday at 7 PM, the troupe hosts a community improv practice. Open to anyone, the practice sessions let newcomers and returning participants explore improv games and get to know members of the cast.
For a deeper dive, So U offers Intro to Improv (Improv 101), an eight-week course designed to teach fundamentals and provide individualized feedback. Cast member Ginger Nelson said the lessons go beyond the stage: “One of the many things improv has taught me is how to be comfortable with who I am as a performer and a person. That’s why I am always telling everyone I know to give it a try.” While the current class is underway, future sessions will be announced online.
Halloween Special
October brings So U’s popular Halloween Show on October 18. Guests who come in costume will receive $5 off admission. With spooky themes and improvisational surprises, it’s one of the troupe’s most anticipated events of the year.
Tickets and Info
So U Comedy Theater invites everyone—from first-time guests to long-time fans—to experience improv in St. George. Tickets can be purchased at soucomedy.com or at the door, with discounts available.
