By Judy Eacker

Southern Utahn western band the Bar G Wranglers will be taking its live show to Kanab. They will perform at the Redstone Theater on Main Street Monday through Saturday nights. Opening night will be April 6, and their season will end Oct. 31.

“We started up about 20 years ago in southern Utah” says Russ Eacker, the founder of the group. “During that time, we’ve had the good fortune to be able to perform for people from all around the world, visitors from approximately 150 countries, and we’ve made a lot of new friends. The highlight of our 20 years was when we were asked to perform during the 2002 Winter Olympics at Thanksgiving Point. What an honor that was! We love the history of western music, and it’s been our mission to keep its legend alive.”

Eacker, a former member of the Bar J Wranglers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, plays the upright bass, does the vocal arrangements, and is joined in the group by the very talented Weil family: Seth on the fiddle, Cassy on rhythm guitar, and Aaron on lead guitar.

“Seth really wows the audience with his amazing talent on the fiddle,” says Eacker. “Aaron is unbelievably fast on that guitar of his, and I really don’t think there is a better female voice in the land than Cassy’s!”

The Bar G Wranglers’ show will usually feature songs by the Sons of the Pioneers, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, and such notable favorites as “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” “Country Roads,” “River of No Return,” and “Rawhide.” Tight three-part harmonies, cowboy comedy, trick-roping, and some whip-cracking will give you an hour or so of family entertainment that will have you tapping your toes and leaving with a smile on your face.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and show time is 8. The cost is $20. Reservations can be made online at theredstonetheater.com.
