The 2017 Boy Scouts of America Expo will be held Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dixie Convention Center. The expo is a large indoor and outdoor booth show with over 100 scouting and community booths showcasing Boy Scouts of America to the public.
Tickets are being sold as a $20 Boy Scouts of America Expo Starving Student Card that has $400 of free food, entertainment, and services, plus an additional $3,500 of discounts at local merchants and restaurants. Boy Scouts can win valuable prizes for selling the most tickets, including a chance to win a trip for four to Disneyland. It is anticipated that hundreds of local scouts and leaders will be participating in this event.
“If 20 Cub Scouts and/or Boy Scouts from your Troop or Pack sell 20 tickets that Troop will receive $10 per ticket or $4,000 for their Troop or Pack,” said Boy Scouts of America executive David Peterson. “Troops can use the funds to help with summer scout camps, purchase camping gear and awards and other items they need. Half of the remaining 50 percent of the proceeds from the sell of the expo tickets or $5 goes to help with the expansion of the Quail Creek Scout Camp including adding a zip line and a climbing wall. The remaining $5 goes to Starving Students for putting the tickets together.“
Preceding the expo, an Eagle Scout recognition breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. at the Dixie Convention Center. Members of the Dixie State University athletics program will be on hand along with former Miss Utah Krissa Beatty. The recognition breakfast is open to the public. Tickets are $6. Those who were Eagle Scouts in 2016 may enter for free.
