According to the USGS website, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake 39km (24 miles) SSW of Caliente, Nevada is being reported. It happened May 22 at 12:47:43 p.m. Approximately 10 minutes following, the waves hit Washington County, Utah.
The rolling and shaking is being reported to have been felt as far as downtown St. George, Utah 101 km (63 miles) Southeast of the epicenter. The staff at The Independent felt the roll and rode the waves as the office building shook.
