Buckskin Tavern Continues To Serve Southern Utah

The Buckskin Tavern, just over the state line from Kanab in Fredonia AZ, is under new ownership and management. Taylor and Stephanie, the new owners, invite you to enjoy their hospitality. Taylor and Stephanie have visited southern Utah their whole lives and now live in Fredonia. With backgrounds in hospitality, they are adding a full menu of house made tavern food to complement the Buckskin’s beverage service and historic atmosphere. Hours of operation are expanding in April to seven days a week from noon till closing and the kitchen will be open for all those hours. Come join them for lunch!
The new menu includes a house smoked pulled pork sandwich with homemade coleslaw and Carolina mustard sauce, the famous Buck Burger, award winning firefighter’s chili, French fries, nachos and a host of other tavern fair. They also feature amazing vegetarian and vegan choices.
The Buckskin Tavern was first built on the Utah/Arizona border in 1934. Milt Cram was catering to cowboys and local ranch folk. Considering how notoriously difficult it was to get a drink in Utah then, the tavern was a welcome addition to the area. The Buckskin, being right across the border, made it a popular watering hole for many locals, travelers, visitors and movie makers that were visiting Kanab and Fredonia. After closing during covid in 2020, the Buckskin reopened its doors in early 2023 with a huge effort to spruce up the place while keeping the charm from the days gone by.
Taylor and Stephanie are now adding their award-winning tavern food to the array of activities the Buckskin has become known for, with live music most weekends and other events like Karaoke, Trivia, Wine Tastings, Pool Tournaments and Game Nights. Enjoy the 3 pool tables, foosball, corn hole, and 7 TVs to relax and watch sports. They have an outdoor Beer Garden with an incredible view looking west over the vermillion cliffs, to which they are adding a stage for live bands.
