The Town of Springdale’s beloved fall race returns Saturday, November 8, as runners and walkers take on the Annual Butch Cassidy 10K/5K. Now in its 42nd year, the point-to-point course from Springdale to historic Grafton blends small-town spirit, Zion Canyon scenery, and a community-minded mission.

Beyond the finish-line fun, the race supports local causes. A portion of proceeds once again benefits the Grafton Heritage Partnership Project, which preserves and restores the storied ghost town that doubles as the race’s memorable finish and a filming location for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. New this year, funds will also support Luis Garcia, a Zion Canyon resident and Zion National Park employee seriously injured in an April 2025 home explosion in Rockville. Race contributions will assist Luis and his family as they navigate recovery and rebuilding.

Both distances—10K and 5K—sell out quickly. Organizers encourage participants to register early to secure a bib. Whether aiming for a PR or enjoying a social jog, racers can expect a welcoming atmosphere that brings together residents, visitors, and local businesses in celebration of health, history, and community.

The Butch Cassidy Race has long been a signature November tradition in the Canyon, uniting first-timers and seasoned runners alike. Many return for the camaraderie as much as the course itself, and for the chance to give back to a place they love.

To register, visit the Race Entry page for the Butch Cassidy 10K/5K. For sponsorship opportunities or additional event information, see Springdale Town’s official event page or contact Robyn Sanders, CCC & Event Supervisor, at rsanders@springdale.utah.gov.
