Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab is home to about 1,600 dogs, cats, pigs, goats, horses, bunnies, birds, and wildlife on any given day, making it the nation’s largest no-kill refuge. Free tours introduce visitors to Dogtown, Cat World, Horse Haven, Piggy Paradise, and more, while volunteer shifts let guests dive straight into the lifesaving action—walking energetic hounds, brushing burros, or stroller-training curious kittens. After a good stretch, everyone is welcome at Angel Village Café for a $5 all-vegan buffet lunch—salad bar, hot entrées, desserts, and canyon panorama included. Once the day’s cuddles and canyon panoramas wind down, visitors have two on-site ways to bed down. The Roadhouse, ten minutes from the Sanctuary, welcomes up to four personal pets per room (or a sleepover guest from the Sanctuary) at no extra charge. A complimentary vegan continental breakfast, two passes to Angel Village lunch, downtown Kanab convenience, and the live-music vibes make it an easy choice for many travelers.
Back inside Angel Canyon, last year’s 18-site RV and camping loop has become a fast favorite. Each site offers full hookups, Wi-Fi, and 35-foot concrete pads perched above horse pastures and serenaded by coyote song at dusk.
