The concert series helps to bring attention to the Southwest Wildlife Foundation and create awareness about the Cedar Canyon Nature Park. The concert series features local and touring musicians and is just one of the many events held at the fire pit program area at the park.
When plans are fully in place, the park will house native wild animals that cannot be released due to injurious disabilities and will include a Visitors and Nature Center to be built on the grounds of the park, located 1.5 miles east of Cedar City on State Route 14.
The Cedar Canyon Nature Park program area is located at the south side of Coal Creek, directly south across the park’s green bridge. Parking is available at the bridge entrance site in addition to by the city bridge at the west waterfall, where that footbridge will take you to the city walking path. From there, just follow the trail until you come to the fire pit, just a short distance to the east.
The concerts are casual and participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, lanterns and/or flashlights. Marshmallows and roasting sticks are a courtesy provided by the Southwest Wildlife Foundation. The show is free, but donations will be accepted.
Recently transplanted from the Seattle area, Greg Wheeler (Wheels) brings his songwriting prowess to join Audrey Sizemore (Beans), a St. George native, back home after 15 years of putting up with the Pacific Northwest weather.
Greg and Audrey love being a part of the thriving southern Utah music scene and enjoy the community of good people that live here. Their recent performances include Groovefest 2013, shared gigs with Full Tilt Boogie, the George Streetfest in June, plus an exciting pre-show performance with Grammy-winning artist Asleep at the Wheel in November 2014 in the St. George Cox Auditorium.
Greg and Audrey write original Americana and indie rock tunes and like to bring a little country and classic rock into the mix with their favorite covers. Their first studio album is close to completion.
