Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend at the Kanab 10K
– By Sterling Glover – Kanab City Rec Director –
The Kanab 10k will once again be held on Mother’s Day weekend in 2024. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 11th!
The 6.2-mile scenic course begins at 7 am at the historic Moqui Cave, meanders alongside Kanab Creek and the vermillion cliffs along Highway 89. We received great feedback about last year’s finish line so we’re keeping it at the Kanab Center! No more uphill to the finish line. Walkers and runners must complete the first five miles of the course in two hours or less. Strollers are allowed on the course.
Registration is open and only $35. Children 17 and under are only $25. Entry fee includes a t-shirt, race swag and custom race bib! Register at KanabCityRec.com or RunnerCard.com. Custom trophies by Western Hills will be awarded to the overall male and female winner as well as the top finisher in each age division. Kanab City will be serving up breakfast for participants to enjoy after crossing the finish line.
Packet pickup will be at the Kanab City Offices (26 N 100 E) on Friday, May 10th from 12pm to 8pm. Late registration will also be available during that time. Packets can also be picked up the morning of the race at the Kanab Center beginning at 6:00am. Participants must be at the front entrance parking lot of the Kanab Center by 6:30am to take a shuttle bus to the starting line.
Please note, the highway will only be open to one-way traffic from 300 N. to Moqui Cave on May 7th between 6:30 and 9:00 am. Consequently, delays should be expected on Highway 89, and the south entrance to Best Friends will be closed between 7 and 8 am, so please plan accordingly
This is one of Kanab City’s premier events as many businesses and individuals converge to create a sense of community. We want everyone to experience it! So run, walk, volunteer, or cheer. We will see you there!
