City Of St. George Celebrates The Opening Of Fire Station 10 With Dedicatory Ribbon Cutting

Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 at 5:30 PM.

To mark the opening of Fire Station 10, the St. George Fire Department will host a ribbon cutting and open house on Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 7 PM at its location on 3270 E. Flowers Way. Everyone is invited to celebrate this new, state-of-the-art facility.

“The opening of Fire Station 10 is a testament to our city’s commitment to protecting our residents,” said St. George Mayor Michele Randall. “Providing for the safety of our residents is our top priority as elected officials and part of that is ensuring that our firefighters have the best resources available. We are excited to open this new station that will be staffed with top-notch fire suppression professionals.”

Station 10 is a significant addition to the City’s emergency response services, with the nearly 13,000-square-foot facility playing a crucial role in the overall emergency response network of St. George. It is equipped with a spacious main building, complemented by a 60-foot auxiliary training tower. This tower will provide firefighters with optimized training opportunities, allowing them to sharpen their skills and stay prepared for any situation.

Station 10 was built at a cost of approximately $6.5 million, utilizing impact fees from new growth. It is strategically located in the southeast region of St. George and will serve the south block area of the city, including the Desert Canyons community and St. George Regional Airport. In addition to response times, Insurance Services Office (ISO) ratings for homeowners and business owners are likely to improve.

“The investment in Fire Station 10 shows that our City Council continues to use a proactive approach to addressing the growing needs of our community,” said Fire Chief Robert Stoker. “This is a significant milestone for our city – not only in terms of safety but for ISO ratings that may result in savings on insurance premiums.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 5:30 PM. Following a brief ceremony, a traditional engine “push-in” will take place. Hot dogs and other refreshments will be served while supplies last.

Station 10 is the ninth fire station in the City of St. George and the sixth to be staffed full-time.
