Classical Music At Its Best In Zion
November 12 & December 15, 2023 – Canyon Community Center in Springdale.
Zion Canyon Arts and Humanities Council is excited to bring performing pieces from Central and South America, with classical guitarist Ricardo Cobo performing on Sunday, November 12, at 7 PM.
Originally from Cali, Columbia, Ricardo Cobo has been collaborating with composers to develop new music based on the rich literary and cultural legacy of Latin America, including Javier Farías. Cuban American composer Jose Lezcano, Colombian composers Franz Castillo, Hector Gonzalez, Fabio Salazar Orozco, and many others have dedicated new pieces to Cobo.
Celebrated for his passionate and mesmerizing performances worldwide, Cobo is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician, lecturer and recording artist. His versatility can be heard on his award-winning recordings on ESSAY, NAXOS, Ellipsis Arts, Angel/EMI, Cambria, Alanna Records, and ESSAY/Allegro. After the performance, Ricardo will hold a Q&A for audience members to learn more about him and the music.
On Friday, December 15 at 7 PM former Los Angeles Philharmonic principal Clarinetist, Michelle Zukovsky, Principal Violist of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Jason Bonham, and SUU’s Pianist Christian Bohnenstengel bring to Springdale Trio Kolob. They will be performing works from Marchenerzahlungen, Schumann; Trio Pathetique, Glinka; Beethoven Piano Trio No. 4 in B-flat. After the performance the musicians will hold a Q&A for audience members to learn more about them and the music.
