The Colorado City Airshow Committee is proud to present the 5th Annual Colorado City Airshow, set for Saturday, September 20, at Colorado City Airport. This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, with an entirely new lineup of performers, expanded ground activities, and a celebration of a key milestone at the airport. Admission is free, and the community is invited to join a full day of aviation excitement.

Family-Friendly Fun

Festivities begin with a free community breakfast and live music, setting the stage for a day packed with activities. Guests can tour static aircraft displays, take airplane rides, enjoy food trucks and snow cones, and watch the always-popular candy drop. A youth airplane pull will let young participants test their strength by towing an aircraft across the tarmac.

Organizers say the goal of the event is to promote aviation, educate the public about airports, and connect the community with local pilots and aviation professionals.

Thrilling Performances

This year’s airshow lineup introduces a new cast of performers:

  • Undaunted Airshows: Pilots Stephen Christopher and Todd Rudbeg fly Van’s aircraft they built themselves, performing precision aerobatics and choreographed formations.
  • Brad Wursten: Flying his MXS-R stunt plane, Wursten pushes the limits of performance with speeds approaching 400 MPH.
  • Danny Sorensen: Known for his Golden Age Airshows, Sorensen will perform in “Unfinished Business,” a striking red biplane he built by hand.
  • Allen Cook: Showcasing Warbird performances, Cook offers a glimpse into aviation’s military history with classic aircraft.

The event begins with a patriotic flag jump from Skydive Mesquite, thrilling spectators as parachutists bring the American flag to the field.

Voices of the Sky

Returning announcers Jeff and Melissa Overby will narrate each twist and turn, ensuring the audience doesn’t miss a moment. Overseeing the show is Air Boss Bob Evans, whose job is to coordinate aircraft movements and maintain safety during the aerial performances.

Celebrating Community Milestones

Beyond the aerial artistry, the airshow doubles as a community celebration. Earlier this year, Colorado City Airport completed a major taxiway project, improving infrastructure for local pilots and visiting aircraft. The event highlights how aviation strengthens the region while inspiring future aviators.

The 5th Annual Colorado City Airshow takes place Saturday, September 20, at Colorado City Airport. Gates open early for breakfast, and aerial performances run throughout the day. Admission is free. For more information, email daltonbarlow@gmail.com or call 702-235-9011.
