Colorado City Music Festival Returns!
Music will once again echo through the glorious sandstone cliffs of Maxwell Canyon. In a world where live music has become a rare experience, it’s surprising that Hilldale Utah, a town more known for its polygamist past than its parties, is now home to one of the last music festivals to fight on despite COVID.
April 24th will be the date for the 5th annual Colorado City Music Festival. Past years have featured rock bands like Royal Bliss, Honky Tonk Heroes, and The Rhyolite Sound.
Known for showcasing the best in regional talent, this year’s headliner is Chris Petersen, a Cedar City cowboy country singer who enjoyed success on the recent season of America’s Got Talent.
Chris Petersen’s authentic cowboy blend of country music has given a voice to fans who have felt left behind in the age of pop-country. With a sound reminiscent to country songs of the ’90s, Chris has drawn influence from artists like Chris Ledoux, George Strait, and Merle Haggard. With hard-hitting vocals that cut above the driving beat of the band, Chris Petersen’s performances stand out to create a fun, foot-stomping experience.
Last year’s headliners The Rhyolite Sound enjoyed the event so much that they will be returning with a few hand-picked country singers to entertain on the Sonic Rodeo Stage. This will allow for continuous live music all day long.
Bohemian Brewery will be operating a beer garden which will be placed closer to the stage than in previous years. The festival always features local talent from the Short Creek community.
This years local will be last year’s fan-favorite – Thee Rozee.
Mason Cottam, from Gradient, will be providing a professional listening experience with the same stage and sound system used at Brianhead.
The festival prides itself on being family-friendly and affordable. Adult tickets are only $20 and are for sale now online. With cell service in the canyon being nearly nonexistent, please be prepared to carry cash for your purchases.
