Going crazy from the heat? Sunburned from another backyard BBQ and pool party? Wishing your kids were back in school already? When the doldrums of the scorching Southern Utah summer hit hard, So U Comedy is here to save the day! Beat the heat with some belly laughs at an evening of improv in downtown St. George.
Every other weekend this summer, you have a blissful air-conditioned entertainment escape provided by So U’s cast of improvisors. Their shows are catered to YOU—the audience—for a one-of-a-kind experience fit for all ages. Each show is different, featuring a few short-form improv games where characters, plot lines, and scenes are made up on the spot.

If you’ve never seen a show, take it from Anitra, a former favorite audience member and now a current FAVORITE player at So U. “Everyone is always looking for something new to do in the summer when it’s ridiculously hot outside. Going to an improv show is a perfect way to mix it up.”
Take it from a professional—Anitra is a literal supermom who keeps her family entertained and alive through the stifling heat of summer. “I started coming to practices with the So U Comedy Theater back in 2018. As a stay-at-home mom whose world revolved around my kids, I needed something that was just for me. It is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I gained so much confidence and have made some of the very best friends. And getting in front of an audience and bringing them joy is one of the best experiences.”

Community education is an integral part of So U’s mission. Free community practices are held every Monday at the St. George Rec Center. All ages and skill levels are welcome to learn the basics of improv in a supportive and positive environment. So U is also planning another round of classes this fall to bring more joy to the community through the power of improv.
If you haven’t joined their audience yet, now is the perfect time. One word: POPSICLES. Let them refresh you with laughs and cool treats on July 5 and 19 at the Electric Theater Center (upper room 2). See the family-friendly show at 7 PM, or stick around for the uncensored 9 PM show—where anything goes, so please leave the little ones at home.
Improv has something for everyone, from dad jokes to deep cuts. Grab your crew and see So U Comedy. Tickets can be purchased online on our website or at the door. Discounts available.
