Comedy Reigns Supreme May 31st And It’s ALL About Bald Nate
So U Comedy Presents!
The cast of So U Comedy is back in full swing with three performance dates in May, featuring a SPECIAL SHOW all about Bald Nate! (Yes, that is how he is affectionately known.) Now is your chance to see the cast in action with an evening full of laughs with fast-paced, short-form improv. Each So U show is unique as it draws suggestions from the audience to create each scene, delivering endless silly scenarios.
So U began nearly a decade ago, and has been steadily growing an audience, not just through performing, but by community engagement. With the belief that “Improv Is For Everyone,” the troupe holds regular practices at the St. George Rec Center on Monday evenings at 7 PM.
Community members of all ages and skill levels are invited to learn the basic skills of improv and play in front of their improv peers.
“We really enjoy seeing new faces that have a desire to learn and just be a part of an improv community. Many of our current cast come from different improv backgrounds from all over the country, and we are lucky that they are now a part of ours!” said Ginger Nelson, a current cast member. Nelson noted that an integral part of So U’s purpose is to build an improv community in St. George. “We are happy to have had positive connections and opportunities to play with other troupes in the past – Comedy Sportz in Provo, and our friends at OTC Comedy in Cedar City. The more we all work together, the more people experience the fun of improv.”
The open invitation to community practice is not just for learning a few skills; many current players of So U began attending practices and eventually auditioned for the troupe. Anyone interested in becoming a performer with So U is encouraged to attend. Auditions to join So U are a few months away. If you are curious about learning improv, want to eventually join the cast, or just want to try something new, check out a performance this month and attend community practice.
On May 3rd and 17th, you can see our cast deliver laughs for the whole family! Performances on the 31st are in honor of America’s Improv Sweetheart, Bald Nate. Join our audience that evening to celebrate his astounding beauty, unmatched improv prowess, and don’t forget to wear your best suit jacket!
Every other Saturday, you can see So U Improv back-to-back for a family-friendly show at 7 PM, followed by the highly attended Uncensored show at 9 PM. All performances are at the Electric Theater in Upper Room 2. Tickets can be purchased online at www.soucomedy.com or at the door.
