Dance Under the Wings: 1940s Hangar Party Lands in St. George
By Josh Warburton
Get ready to swing back in time as the Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum hosts its ever-popular 1940s-style Hangar Dance on Saturday, May 17, from 6 to 10 PM. Set inside the museum’s authentic WWII-era hangar at 4196 S. Airport Parkway, St. George, this high-flying evening will transport you to the golden age of big band music, vintage planes, and good old-fashioned fun.
The big band will be swingin’, the dance floor will be hoppin’, and the atmosphere will be dripping in nostalgia. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in era-appropriate attire—think victory rolls, zoot suits, and that Rosie-the-Riveter energy. Dance exhibitions and beginner-friendly lessons will help everyone find their groove, even if they’ve never lindy-hopped a day in their life.
“This event is a favorite of ours every year,” said Jack Hunter of the Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum. “It brings people together in such a joyful, connected way. Plus, where else can you dance the night away surrounded by historic warbirds?”

The museum, known for preserving and showcasing authentic military aircraft and memorabilia, offers a perfect backdrop for a retro-style evening. Attendees will also enjoy light refreshments, photo ops with restored planes, and the opportunity to take in the stories behind the aircraft from passionate volunteers and veterans who help keep this living history alive.
The venue is as much a star of the show as the band. Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum is dedicated to honoring the heroes of American aviation with interactive exhibits and lovingly restored aircraft. The hangar setting adds a unique sense of place—expect echoing swing notes under soaring steel rafters and polished planes gleaming beside the dance floor.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, with reserved tables for eight available for $250—a great option if you’re coming with friends or a club. Early ticket purchase is recommended, as this event tends to fill up fast.
