December 2024 Tabernacle Events
The following events are scheduled at the Historic St. George Tabernacle for the month of December 2024. All events are free to the public. Recordings of events can also be heard by dialing 435-677-6230 and selecting extension #3.
Monday, December 2 at Noon: “Legacy Lecture Series” December’s speaker is Lincoln D. Nadauld, M.D., Ph.D., co-founder, President and CEO of Culmination Bio. Dr. Nadauld and team have built a novel multi-modal health technology platform and insights engine for medical research, health-related data, and healthcare services. Dr. Nadauld also serves as Santa Clara, UT LDS Stake President.
Tuesday, December 3 at 7 PM: “Christmas on the Keys” Pianist & Composer Andrew Braithwaite and friends, violist Rebecca Suelzle, and tenor Philippe Hall will perform a variety of nostalgic Christmas classics, playful mashups, and original music.
Wednesday, December 4 at 7 PM: “Santa Clara Friends” will perform “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” These talented Utah ladies—performing in 3, 4, & 5 part harmony—have sung together since 1998.
Thursday, December 5 at 7 PM: “Color Country Chorus,” a men’s barbershop quartet, will be joined by special guests, “The EPIC Children’s Choir,” to present a mix of fun holiday favorites and sacred songs celebrating the birth of the Savior.
Friday, December 6 at 7 PM: “Christmas in the Tabernacle” will be a joint concert featuring the “St. George Chamber Singers” and the 70-voice “St. George Children’s Choir.” These groups will perform traditional carols accompanied by harp and violin as well as excerpts from the “Messiah.”
Saturday, December 7 at 12 Noon: “Choral Artists of Southern Nevada,” founded in 2009 and led by renowned Director Marsha Borovicka and Executive Director Jacob Hasler, will perform joyful Christmas favorites. The group will be joined by the handbell choir Tintinnabulation.
Saturday, December 7 at 7 PM: Karen Larsen, former Miss Utah (1977-78) will share her incredible operatic talent as a classically trained soprano. Having studied with master’s from Weber State University, Julliard, and The Metropolitan Opera, Karen has traveled and performed extensively with acclaimed pianist Marvin Goldstein. In this her second tabernacle appearance. Karen will be joined by her daughter, Sara (Larsen) Krause in presenting “Christmastime This Year.”
Sunday, December 8 at 7 PM: “St. George Institute Choirs” will present “Anthem of Love,” an evening of worship, love, and joy through songs of praise, under the direction of Marshall McConkie.
Tuesday, December 10 at 7 PM: “Pine View High School Choirs and Orchestra,” under the direction of Rob Reimer, will present the “Brightest and Best.”
Wednesday, December 11 at 7 PM: “Keynotes,” an 11-member women’s choir, will perform “Celebration of Christ and Christmas.”
Thursday, December 12 at 7 PM: “Night of All Nights,” a concert featuring favorite Christmas carols performed by Utah Tech University music professors Melissa Walker Glenn (mezzo-soprano), Nancy Allred-Wright (piano), and Ka-Wai Yu (cello). They will also be joined by KateLyn Syphus (violin), a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, and graduate from the DSU music department.
Friday, December 13 at 7 PM: The “St. George Opera” will present a concert featuring classical Christmas favorites performed by talented local musicians. Come enjoy and be lifted up with music reminding us of the reason we celebrate this season each year!
Saturday, December 14 at 7 PM: The “Celebration Interfaith Choir” and their talented musical guests return for another “Celebrate Christmas” performance, including the Hallelujah Chorus singalong.
Sunday, December 15 at 7 PM: In its first of two December tabernacle performances, the “Southern Utah Heritage Choir” will present “The Night of All Nights” as their annual Christmas program and Sing Along. Award-winning and internationally acclaimed, the choir is under the direction of Dr. Ken Peterson.
Tuesday, December 17 at 7 PM: The “Wooden Tantrum Celtic Band,” having performed together as a family for over 30 years, will bring a unique celebration to the Christmas season with Tara Tichenor (fiddle), Brittan Sevy (guitar), Mckenna Sevy (harp and vocals), and Bret Sevy (Bohdran Irish drum).
Wednesday, December 18 at 7 PM: “Lieto Voices” (Lieto translated from Italian means “Joyful Sound”) will perform familiar and new selections of beautiful Christmas music. This 90-member choir is under the direction of Dr. Nancy Allred-Wright, with Kris Barber as assistant director.
Thursday, December 19 at 7 PM: Join Ed Tracy in “Christmas Memories” with Tami Creamer as piano accompanist along with special guest Shelby Thorn.
Friday, December 20 at 7 PM: Enjoy locally raised artist and pianist Garry Gentry as he performs holiday songs of his own arrangement in “Christmas Music the way I like it.”
Saturday, December 21 at 7 PM: “Angel’s Landing Orchestra,” informally known as “John Miner & Friends,” will perform their annual Christmas Concert, “Tis the Season!”
Sunday, December 22 at 7 PM: In its second December tabernacle performance, the “Southern Utah Heritage Choir” will present “The Night of All Nights” as their annual Christmas program and Sing Along. Award-winning and internationally acclaimed, the choir is under the direction of Dr. Ken Peterson.
The St. George Tabernacle was completed in 1876, almost 150 years ago, and is located at 18 S Main St, St. George, UT.
