By Rick Atkin, Chair of Dixie Days & Dinner on Main

There’s something magical about gathering around a long table, under the open sky, in the heart of historic downtown St. George. This September, that magic returns as Dinner on Main once again transforms our beloved Main Street into Southern Utah’s largest outdoor dining room.

As part of our Dixie Days festival, Dinner on Main isn’t just about food, it’s about celebrating who we are as a community. For one evening, Main Street comes alive with music, laughter, and the aromas of dishes carefully crafted by some of our region’s most talented chefs.

Honoring Our Roots

The spirit of Dinner on Main runs deep in our local heritage. From my own family’s historical accounts, the early pioneers believed in the power of gathering around food, music, and community. They transformed a hot desert into a place of abundance through agriculture, hard work, and resilience. In that same spirit, Dinner on Main is our way of honoring their legacy while showcasing the vibrant foodie scene that continues to blossom here in Southern Utah.

A Feast for the Senses

On Thursday, September 18, Main Street will close to traffic and open to celebration. Guests will be treated to a chef’s table experience, with multi-course meals prepared by some of our favorite local restaurants, including Wood Ash Rye, Sandtown Pizza, Pica Rica, and The Hive435. Each brings a unique flavor and story to the table, highlighting the creativity and passion of our culinary community.

Live music and local experiential art will surround diners, turning the evening into more than just a meal. Dinner on Main will be a full-senses experience that connects us to each other and to the place we call home.

A Community Effort

Dinner on Main wouldn’t be possible without the countless volunteers, city partners, businesses, and sponsors who come together to make it happen. From setting the tables to pouring the wine, this event is a true labor of love. It takes months of preparation, and every detail, from the linens to the lighting, reflects the pride our community takes in coming together.

It’s also a moment to give thanks. We celebrate our harvest season, our thriving local businesses, and the spirit of generosity that runs through Southern Utah. At its heart, Dinner on Main is about gratitude, gratitude for the food before us, the people beside us, and the history that grounds us.

Be Part of the Celebration

Dinner on Main has quickly become one of St. George’s most cherished traditions, and this year promises to be better than ever. Tickets are limited, and reservations go fast, so we encourage you to secure your seat early and be part of this one-of-a-kind evening.

Whether you come for the food, the music, or simply the chance to sit shoulder to shoulder with friends and neighbors, Dinner on Main is more than an event, it’s a reminder of what makes St. George so special.

Join us this September and let’s raise a glass together to good food, good company, and our bright future
