Dixie State, Raging Red Joining Community To Present Mamma Mia
GEORGE, Utah — Dixie State University and its premier song and dance performing team, Raging Red, are partnering with talented community members to perform the hit musical Mamma Mia.
The musical will be performed at Dixie State University’s OC Tanner Amphitheater in Springdale, Utah from May 20 through June 5. The show will run on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday nights at 8 p.m. with one special matinee performance offered on Saturday, May 29 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at showtix4u.com/events/mammamia.
“This high-energy production is an exciting collaboration between DSU students, faculty and staff, as well as local community theater groups, businesses, professional and amateur actors,” Vice President of Student Affairs Del Beatty said. “With a cast of over 50 talented performers, coupled with amazing choreography, the show is incredible!”
This musical performance is being produced by DSU Student Affairs as a fundraiser for Raging Red. As a recruiting tool for DSU, Raging Red performs for public schools throughout Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, California. The performance team also entertains at community and civic events, Alumni gatherings, and local care centers. Raging Red has had opportunities to travel and perform across the country as well as internationally. Members are selected through an extensive audition process and must be enrolled DSU students.
“Presenting a musical with such a large cast, featuring amazing DSU student talent and having adult leads filling the roles of the Dynamos and Dads, will provide a wonderful experience for the audience,” Director of Raging Red Geoffrey Reynolds said. “This fun yet touching story showcases the well-known music of ABBA and will have everyone on their feet and singing along.”
