As fall semester is wrapping up, Dixie State University is pleased to be announcing the creation of three new scholarship programs being offered for spring semester. The Early Graduates from High School Scholarship, the Spring Back Scholarship, and the Fresh Start Scholarship are the new Dixie State University scholarship programs that will help students accomplish their goals and earn college degrees through the institution’s academic programs.
“Dixie State University is the best place to be, especially during the spring semester,” said David Roos, executive director of enrollment services at DSU. “For students who are eligible, the additional scholarship opportunities will make coming to DSU even more affordable. We are thrilled to be the most affordable university in Utah and offer more than 60 degree programs.”
The Early Graduates from High School Scholarship is for Utah students who graduate from high school a semester early and meet Utah’s Resident Freshman Academic Scholarship Program. These students will be automatically considered for academic scholarships for the spring semester based on their most current high school GPA and ACT scores.
The Spring Back Scholarship is geared for Utah students who applied to DSU for the fall semester as new freshmen but attended another college or university and are now interested in enrolling in DSU for the spring semester. After applying for admission to DSU, students must apply for this scholarship and provide documentation of enrollment in a college or university other than DSU for the past fall semester. Students should send a document such as a billing statement or unofficial transcript to jhale@dixie.edu to satisfy this requirement.
The Fresh Start Scholarship is perfect for students who have never attended college and graduated from high school within the past five years. To apply for this scholarship, students must apply for admission to DSU, apply for the scholarship at dixie.edu/springscholarships, and provide an official high school transcript and ACT or SAT test scores.
The priority deadline for the Spring Back and Fresh Start scholarships is Jan. 4, but additional considerations will be made as time permits until Jan. 11. The amount of the scholarship awarded is based on students’ index scores. An index score is the sum of a student’s high school GPA that has been multiplied by 10 and his or her ACT score. Students with an index score of 59 or above qualify for $1,500 scholarships, students with 54 to 58.99 qualify for $1,000 and scores of 50 to 53.99 qualify for $500.
