Dixie Scholarship Associates, in cooperation with the Dixie State University Student Alumni Association and Dixie Foundation’s Fire & Ice support, has announced the selection of the 2015-16 finalists for the annual community talent show, Dixie’s Got Talent.
Finalists in the youth group (17 and younger) are Carson Drawe, Sarah Birch, Marlie Root, Jayden Wright, Autumn Best, Eminence Super Steppers, Ivan Odom, Gem Hersch and Sam Peyton, Preslee Evans, and Aylay VanLehn.
In the adult group (18 and older), the finalists are Jordan and Liz Sharp, The Sunday Best, Jason Johnson, Connor Lee and Dale Hoopes, Meg Metcalf Nelson, Amber Haws, Jessica West Kreitzer, Haven Sunderland, Kolton Young, and Nathan and Malory Myers.
Featuring local talent singing, dancing, and working the crowd, the show is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 in the Cox Performing Arts Center on DSU’s campus. Seven judges and the audience will select the 2016 champions. The judges’ combined scores account for 50 percent of contestants’ scores, while audience members’ votes account for the other half. The show will also include featured return performances from the reigning stars. All proceeds from Dixie’s Got Talent help provide scholarships to need-based individuals seeking to enroll or continue their education at DSU. Need-based applicants are those who have had life-changing or difficult circumstances that make it impossible for them to continue their education without financial assistance.
