DOCUTAH returns to the screen with a powerful and heartfelt documentary about grit, pride, and the love of the game. On Friday, June 6 at 7:30 PM, The Golden Age: A Passion to Last a Lifetime screens at the Lorraine Boccardo Theater in Kayenta as part of the DOCUTAH year-round film series.
Directed by DOCUTAH founder Phil Tuckett, this film dives into the highs and heartbreaks of the Golden Age League—a competitive soccer league made up of Latin American men over the age of 40, many of whom once played professionally in their home countries.
Set against the backdrop of Corona Park in Queens, New York, the film captures the raw determination, humor, and sheer passion of aging athletes chasing glory once more. Whether it’s lingering injuries, slipping fitness, or the occasional red card, these players give it their all, reminding us that for some, soccer is a lifelong calling—not just a game.
Tuckett will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A, offering attendees the chance to learn more about the making of the film, its characters, and the deeper cultural story behind the league.
