Beginning Monday, July 6, water restrictions are in place for water users above the Washington Fields Diversion and the Toquerville Secondary Water System. For users of the Washington Fields Diversion, this means that all water rights holders whose priority date is from 1901 or later must immediately cease diverting water. For Toquerville residents, this means that outdoor watering is limited to three assigned days per week between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. For agricultural users in the Toquerville District, watering will be limited to two assigned days per week between the hours of 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Three- and four-time violators will face fines of double and then trip the normal annual assessment. A fifth violation incurs the possibility of water being shut off to the violator for the remainder of the season.
Washington County is currently considered to be in the midst of a moderate drought, according to the United States Drought Monitor.
