Elvis Rocks Mesquite welcomes Elvis tributes to the CasaBlanca Showroom
By Julian Lupo
Mesquite Gaming, owner of Casablanca Resort and Casino and Virgin River Hotel, kicks off the 10th annual Elvis Rocks Mesquite competition June 20. The three-day event held inside the CasaBlanca Resort Showroom will run through June 22. This year, 22 contestants traveling from across the U.S. will attract hundreds of Elvis enthusiasts to Mesquite as they enjoy Elvis’ beloved music from yesteryear.
Elvis contestants will compete in three categories broken down by era: the ’50s, the ’60s, and the ’70s. Each era will be judged by a panel of Elvis experts including Las Vegas headline entertainer Clint Holmes, winner of season five’s America’s Got Talent Michael Grimm, and lead celebrity judge Rich Little.
The three judges will narrow down the field to 12 finalists who will compete in a final performance with a live band June 22 at 8:30 p.m. Mesquite Gaming will award $10,000 in prize money with the overall winner taking home $3,000.
The schedule of events includes a meet and greet, movies by the pool, multiple late-night karaoke events, and a finals afterparty. Each day will be filled with entertaining tributes, rhinestone-studded jumpsuits, and “hunka hunka” hip-thrusting action. Kelly Clinton Holmes will return as the host for the fourth year in a row and will keep the energy high throughout the weekend’s events.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (800) 585-3737. For more information on the event or the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino, please visit casablancaresort.com.
