Washington County Democratic Party Chairperson Dorothy Engelman announced that, effective today, March 28, she is officially resigning from her duties as chair of the local Democratic Party.
In an announcement sent out earlier this week to the Washington County Democratic Party’s members, Engelman said her decision to resign relates to her current candidacy for Utah House District 74.
“When I filed to run as the Democratic candidate for HD74, I envisioned running a vigorous campaign while still directing the operations of the local Democratic Party,” Engelman said in the statement. “Upon further consideration and consultation, I made the decision to resign to concentrate on my campaign.”
The Washington County Democratic Party will select a new chairperson at the County Democratic Convention on Friday, April 11 at Fossil Ridge Intermediate School, 383 S. Mall Dr. in St. George. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the convention will commence at 7 p.m.
Anyone desiring to be nominated for the chairmanship should contact Democratic Party Secretary Randy Thomson at [email protected] by Thursday, April 10.
