The towering cliffs of Zion National Park provide the backdrop for the fifth annual Zion Canyon Music Festival, Sept. 27 and 28. This year’s festival features music by several well-known bands, including Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, GrooveSession, Felix Y Los Gatos, Rainbow Girls, Better Off With The Blues, Hollering Pines, We Are Mirrors and The 3 Hats Trio. For the past four years, the Zion Canyon Music Festival has brought together local and nationally known bands in a family-friendly, community-oriented atmosphere. Admission to the festival is free.
Held on the ball field in the Springdale Town Park, the Zion Canyon Music Festival features a variety of original art and craft vendors, educational and sustainable practice information, a kid’s zone with inflatable activities, a climbing wall and beer and wine gardens. Food vendors include Wildcat Willies, Greek Grill, The Grumpy Goat Cheese Pizza, Thai Sapa and Pinching Gringo Tacos.
Attend the first annual drum circle on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. All are welcome – bring the kids, drums and noisemakers.
The festival is a “Leave No Trace” festival. Proceeds from the festival will benefit Springdale’s solar power project and the development of renewable energy resources in Southern Utah. Through grants from the Rocky Mountain Power Blue Sky Program, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and donations from Town events, the Town of Springdale has installed 96.4 KW of solar generation capacity which offsets power used for municipal power needs including the Canyon Community Center, the town’s waste water treatment facility and culinary water system, the town ball field, and events like the Zion Canyon Music Festival. Proceeds from the festival will provide matching funds for state, federal and private grants to install solar infrastructure.
