Free grant workshop offered in Cedar City
By Shay Baruffi-Jensen
Are you interested in learning about what grants are available for your organization? Do you need more information about grant writing and applying for grants? If you are looking for available grants or want to know more about how to apply for them, come to a free grant workshop, offered by the Cedar City Arts Council and Utah Arts and Museums, at The Cedar City Library Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop is free and open to the public.
This workshop will focus on grants available for specific arts disciplines and some “do’s and don’ts” of grant writing and applications. At this workshop you will have a chance for individual consultation with the state presenters, Laurel Alder and Jason Bowcutt, as well as time to create your grant draft for the local mini-grants offered by the Cedar City Arts Council.
Come discover grants available through the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and your Cedar City Arts Council for all art disciplines. State grants are available for music, dance, literary, theater, folk arts, and visual arts organizations and individuals. More information is available online.
Cedar City Arts Council grants are offered twice a year for up to $500 for organizations and individuals. Applications are due Feb. 28, and the application is online. During the workshop, there will be individual help in answering questions about the process of application and review. The mini-grant program started in 2008 and has resulted in the allocation of over $38,000, according to Cedar City Arts Council board member Mary Anne Andersen.
