The time-honored tale of Quasimodo will come to life April 4-May 10 as Hurricane Theatrical presents Victor Hugo’s stirring “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Performances will take place at the Hurricane Fine Arts Center, located at 92 S. 100 West in Hurricane.

The show is based on Disney’s animated depiction of the story, featuring the beloved Academy Award-nominated musical score, as well as some new numbers penned by songwriting duo Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The story brings to life the tale of Quasimodo, a deformed bell ringer held captive inside Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral.

The isolated Quasimodo dreams of the outside world, and when the Feast of Fools celebration is being held in the city down below, he seizes his opportunity to blend in with the masked crowd for just one day of freedom. But Quasimodo’s venture into the outside world turns tragic when the crowd realizes his face is not a mask and turns cruel. The free-spirited Esmeralda is the only person to show kindness to Quasimodo. The story that unfolds is a powerful one that has stood the test of time and will have audiences riveted until the last moment.

Performances of the show will take place on Monday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7 PM. There will also be Saturday matinee performances at 2 PM. On April 3, there will be a special preview night at 7 PM, with discounted tickets for attendees. The doors will open 30 minutes before each show.

Tickets for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” are $10 for kids ages 4-12, $20 for audience members ages 13-64, and $18 for seniors ages 65 and older. Tickets can be purchased online at www.hurricanetheatrical.com or by calling 435-668-9753.

Hurricane Theatrical’s upcoming summer production will be “The Prince of Egypt,” taking place Aug. 1-Sept. 6.
