Safira
Treats and baby talk are the way to this girl’s heart. Safira can be a bit shy and fearful with people she doesn’t know, but with a little time and patience, she will give her trust. And once she trusts people, she loves them. Born in 2011, Safira is an active, playful girl. She loves toys, especially tennis balls and her big Jolly ball. Fetch and swimming are two of her favorite things. Safira has overcome her fear of cars and enjoys golf cart rides around the sanctuary. She eats a prescription diet and prefers male dogs to other females. She’d love a home with someone who will take the time to get to know her and who will enjoy her playful, silly side.
Tilda
Sweet, lovable little Tilda loves to sit in people’s laps. But she has an independent streak, so as much as she loves people, she’s not too clingy. Tilda has done really well with other little dogs at the sanctuary and has lived with small dogs in the past. She also passed her cat test here. Born in 2006, Tilda has a history of seizures and needs to lose a little weight. She’s also working on her basic manners with her caregivers and trainers at the sanctuary.
Turner
Turner’s the kind of dog who loves to snuggle on the couch after a long walk. He is social with other dogs at the sanctuary, and he has experience at the dog park from a previous home. Born in 2011, Turner has good recall skills. He is also great in a car and housebroken. In his previous home, he did nip at people’s ankles, and at Dogtown he is working with his caregivers and trainers on reducing barrier reactivity and walking nicely on a leash. He’d love an active home with a person or family who would continue his training.
Surya
Surya is such a love! He will put his paws around your shoulders in a hug and lick your face with kisses. He’s friendly with everyone and likes to be picked up and carried around. He just wants to be with people and have a lap to sit in. Born in 2000, he doesn’t seem to pay much attention to other cats. In fact, he doesn’t even seem to notice them. He much prefers the company of people. Here at the sanctuary, he’s quiet but perks up when someone enters the room. Pick him up and he’ll stare into your eyes like a baby. This guy really needs to be in a home where he can get lots of love and attention.
Tiger Paw
Tiger Paw is very sweet and friendly. He will greet you and follow you around. He likes to be petted and to rub up against your lets. He’s a sweet, affectionate, and mellow boy. Born in 2005, he came from a shelter in California. He gets along just fine with other cats. He’s perfectly healthy and ready to go to a home of his own.
Ufro
Ufro is a bit cautious with people he doesn’t know, but he warms up quickly. He greets people he knows and enjoys being petted. He seems fine with other cats. Born in 2015, he came from a shelter in California. Ufro demands attention and a clean litter box. If his demands are not fulfilled, he will urinate outside of the box. We suspect he suffers from feline lower urinary tract disease. Ufro is a great guy who’s just looking for someone who can meet his demands.

Courtney
Courtney was found in the desert with a purple collar. No one called or came to claim her. She is a friendly dog. She knows sit and does well walking on a leash. Courtney is doing well with getting used to being around other dogs. She wants to play and keep you company. She is a nice girl. Her adoption fee is $60.
Tula
Tula’s owner is in the hospital and family cannot keep this little girl. She is approximately 1 year old. She is partially house trained. She is shy until she gets to know you. She is full of energy. She does like to go visiting so will need a secure yard. She is doing well on a leash. Tula loves playing with toys or just cuddling. Tula does bark for attention. Her adoption fee is $60.
Ellie
Ellie is a great young lady. She is small in size with a quiet gentle personality. She loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. She wants to be with people and other dogs. Ellie has jumped a 6-foot fence to be with people so would need a secure yard and maybe another dog for companionship. She is very attentive and wants to please. She is a calm dog. Her adoption fee is $60.
Mia
Mia’s owner moved and could not take her with him. She is 7 years young and declawed. Mia is in need of a diet and exercise plan. She is shy due to the change in her living arrangements, but she is calm and easily handled. She would make a good companion for someone wanting a couch potato to keep them company. Her adoption fee is $40.
Paris
Paris came to the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is a pretty orange-and-white spotted tabby. Paris came from a home where she had access to a doggie door. She is getting used to being an inside kitty. Paris starts purring the minute she sees anyone and walks around serenading everyone. She is easily handled. Her adoption fee is $40.
Louie
Louie came to the shelter when his owners could no longer take care of him. They have no information other than his name, and they assume he is a boy. He is easily handled and very soft. A chinchilla is quite high maintenance and has special needs (dust baths, etc.), so they are asking for an adopter who is familiar with this breed of animal.
RSQ DOGS+
RSQ DOGS+ is southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. Rosie
Rosie is a 5-month-old pit mix puppy. She is a fast learner and very motivated to please you. She is a playful puppy but does enjoy long naps cuddled up with you and would love to be a lap dog if you would let her. Rosie is good with dogs of all sizes, cats, and children.
Indie
This darling girl is approximately 2 years old and super friendly. They are not sure of her breed, but they are thinking she is possibly a Labrador retriever and Australian shepherd mix. Indie loves people and gets along well with other dogs and children.
Rascal
Rascal the mustache cat! He is ready for his forever home! Rascal does not like to attend adoption events. They really scare him. But he is doing great in his foster home! He would do best as the only animal in the home but could adjust to a home with another cat. Rascal is a very unique and handsome cat. Let them know if you would like to meet him. Be prepared to fall in love!
Milkshake
Their adorable biggest loser, milkshake is still looking for the perfect home! Milkshake came to them weighing in at 32 pounds and could hardly even walk! He is now down to 26 pounds and feeling much healthier. He even plays now! Milkshake is the boss. He would be fine as the only cat in the home. But he would also do well with children and/or another friendly cat. No dogs, please.
Tilly
Tilly is a very sweet girl but just a little temperamental. Who can blame the poor girl, though, as she was abandoned by her owner to a high-kill shelter? She is now safe with RSQ DOGS+, but she really needs a home where she can feel loved. Tilly so deserves a loving home that RSQ DOGS+ has waived her adoption fee. She would prefer a home with no dogs.
Hurricane City Animal Shelter
Hurricane City Animal Shelter is located at 2084 S 700 W in Hurricane. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays. They work very hard to keep their facility clean and their adoptable animals comfortable during their stay with them. Adoption fees are $20 for cats and $30 for dogs. The adoption fee includes a goodie bag and a certificate for a free health exam with either one of the veterinarians in Hurricane. All pets must be sterilized prior to being adopted.
Bandit
Freckle-faced Bandit is sure to steal your heart away! This beautiful boy came to the shelter because his owners were moving and could not take him with them. Bandit was very frightened when he first came here, but with a bit of time and patience and a lot of love, he is doing great now. They were told he is a blend of Australian shepherd, border collie, heeler, and probably a few other things mixed in for good measure. Medium-sized Bandit is about 4 years old. He is house trained, absolutely loves camping, and especially adores being petted. Bandit just wants to be right next to you and will happily roll over for belly rubs. Bandit is super sweet and extra cuddly. However, they were told that he does not do well with little kids or other dogs. They aren’t sure how he is with cats. Bandit is a wonderful dog who is looking for his fur-ever home where he will truly be loved and cherished always.
Fern
First they named her Finnegan, because they thought she was a he. Then we named her Finnegal once they knew she was a female. Now, they have decided to call her Fern, because it’s a lovely name for a very sweet, pretty little kitty. This petite sweetheart is such a treasure. She just adores being petted. Fern will purr and make biscuits while you pet her. A bit on the shy side, she would do best in a home with older kids who are gentle and respectful. Fern uses her litter box like a pro. They aren’t sure how she is with dogs, but she seems very curious about the other kitties at the shelter.

Winnie
Winnie is a very sweet, low-key little dog. She gets along great with other dogs and older kids. She is very loyal and loves to be right by your side at all times. She is a great buddy for someone looking for a constant companion. Winnie is house trained and does well in a kennel at night. Winnie has lupus, and her medication (25mg Cyclosporine) has to be given 1 hour before food or 2 hours after. It costs about $45 a month. Call Michelle at (435) 703-3926 for more information on Winnie. Her adoption fee is $125.
Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Pebbles
Pebbles is a sweet little dog with a lot of love to give. A small dog with a big personality, Pebbles is about 4 years old but hasn’t had much contact with people so is quite cautious when meeting new people and takes some time to get comfortable. However, once he gets to know you, he is warm and loving with his favorite place being in the arms of his person. Very playful with other small dogs, he walks well on a leash while displaying typical “small dog bark bigger than his bite” attitude. To welcome Pebbles into your family, call Phyllis at (435) 862-2207. His adoption fee is $125.
