Roady
Looking for a smart dog who loves to learn? Roady knows basic training cues and is crate and muzzle trained. He’s also learning leash manners. While he loves going for walks, he is reactive to other dogs while he is on a leash. However, Roady is working hard with his caregivers to improve his leash skills. An affectionate dog, Roady adores people. He enjoys hanging out and going for rides. His favorite things in life include snuggles and belly rubs. He also loves food puzzles and chew toys. Roady can be picky with his doggie friends, and it takes him a while to feel comfortable even with the right ones. But once he does, he can hang out and walk with them with ease. Roady was born in 2010. He was found as a stray before he came to Best Friends and is eager to find a forever home. Roady is part of our Single Pets program! That means that he is eligible for a free flight home and waived adoption fee! Single pets do best as the only dog or cat in the home.
Shire
Shire was born in December 2016 and came from an animal rescue group in southern Utah. All Best Friends puppies are already infused with extra love and cuddles. They need to be taught all those good things that puppies need to learn in order to grow up to be adult dogs, of course. A puppy is a project! But there’s nothing these little ones would love more than to grow right up into your family.
Sosa
Sosa can come off as a tough guy, but on the inside, he’s a big mush ball. He’s also a fun dog who loves toys, water, walks, and going on car rides. Born in 2014, Sosa was picked up as a stray and came to Best Friends from a shelter in Indiana. He is sweet and active but also very sensitive, so he has struggled in the shelter environment. He can be shy and fearful with strangers, and he has more “stranger danger” issues when he is behind a barrier such as a fence or a gate. He does much better meeting new people outside of his room or yard. In Dogtown, he is getting plenty of practice meeting new people, and his doggie friend and roommate often helps him feel more comfortable around them. Although introductions are hard for him, once you’re Sosa’s friend, he’s your friend for life. Sosa is crate trained and would likely do best in a calm, stable home with another dog.
Rogue
Rogue is an adorable, playful kitten. She loves being with people and she is constantly exploring her surroundings. She’ll play with a toy for long periods of time, or she also just enjoys cuddling up on the couch. Rogue has a congenital hind limb deformity so she drags her back legs behind her, but that does not slow her down one bit! She speeds around looking for what she can explore next. She is incontinent and needs to have her bladder expressed, and sometimes her colon. Rogue was born in April of 2017 and came from a shelter in California. She can be overwhelmed with too many other cats but does fine with just a few. She’s even playful with dogs. Rogue is a delightful little girl who is looking for that special home that can accommodate her needs.
Sleepy
Sleepy is a handsome boy who likes his own space, but if you approach him slowly, he’ll allow you to pet him. He likes his own space from other cats, too, though he will make friends. Born in 2016, he came from an overcrowded situation. Sleepy hides in new environments until he gets acclimated. He’s hoping there’s a home for him out there where the people will be kind and patient and allow him the space to open up.
Santana
Santana is a muted gray tortoiseshell. She came here from an animal rescue group in Arizona. Although shy, she’s very inquisitive and will occasionally let you pet her. Born in 2011, she’s perfectly healthy. She likes eating and playing in the outdoor cattery on sunny days.
RSQ DOGS+
RSQ DOGS+ is southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. All of the animals in its care are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and any medical care they may need. Please contact RSQ DOGS+ for more information at (800) 897-1136 or rsqdogsutah@gmail.com, or visit rsqdogsutah.org.
Boomer
Boomer was found wandering around Colorado City when animal control picked him up. No one claimed him, so his new friends at RSQ Dogs went and got me before he was put down. He is four years old and fully grown. He knows some commands like “sit” and “come.” He loves people, other dogs, and walks, but he is just as happy to be your couch companion. Boomer is also kid friendly and fine around cats. Isn’t he such an amazing dog? His new friends at RSQ Dogs+ say his new home will need a fully fenced yard for him to run around in. He would love a family who will take him for adventures! Do you want to be his fur-ever family?
Raven
Raven is a Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is approximately four years old and absolutely beautiful. She does well with people but seems uncomfortable with other dogs. RSQ Dogs+ is working to help her feel more at ease in the meantime, she gets lots of love and attention from people and she absolutely loves the one-on-one interactions.
Stella
Stella is a small female Chiweenie who is approximately 3 years old. She is the sweetest girl. She is a bit cautious and growly around new people and dog but warms up pretty quickly. She loves the park and car rides. Belly rubs, kisses, and cuddles round out her day. Stella is a total lovebug who just needs a bit of reassurance from time to time. She would also be good in a home with other dogs and/or children.
Anna and Tianna
Anna and Tianna are darling bonded siblings and hard to tell apart. They were born prematurely and were lucky to survive. Their personalities are very different. Anna is more shy, but if you just sit still she will come up and want to play. Tianna is way more social and loves to lay right on you. These two will need to be adopted together.
Chop Stick and Stir Fry
Chop Stick and Stir Fry are a bonded pair of young adults approximately 1 year old. They came to RSQ DOGS+ after their owner passed away. They are very loving, playful and active. They will need to be adopted together. They would also be good in a home with other cats and/or children.

Dash was found along the side of the interstate. He is a nice young dog who loves people and other dogs. He is good on a leash and knows the “sit” command. He will need basic training and house training. His adoption fee is $60.
Aura
Aura’s owner could no longer care for this dog and her “yard” mate. She is high energy but very loving. She needs basic training as she was only left in a yard. She is learning to sit, walk on a leash and general manners. She has beautiful coloration. Her adoption fee is $60.
Palmer and Wizard
The kittens were found as strays along with two more brothers. They can be adopted but cannot leave the shelter until old enough to be altered. They are easily handled and love to play. The mother was feline leukemia virus negative. The kittens have received their first vaccinations. They play and purr all the time and are easily handled. Their adoption fees are $40 each.

She is easygoing and gets along with other cats. Wilma also likes to run on the cat wheel. She is amazing! Her adoption fee is $65.
Archie
Archie is 8 years old and very stylish and debonair. He even comes with his own wardrobe. Archie is one of the most beautiful and lovable cats PAWS has ever come across. He is in the beginning stages of kidney failure but is doing great by eating KD wet food. He also likes to spend time in our office next to the volunteers, sitting on the window sill soaking up some rays, or playfully batting his toys around. His teeth have recently been cleaned, so he is all ready to meet his fur-ever family!

Bindi
Bindi is a border collie blend believed to be around two years old. She spent one night in a foster home after being pulled from the shelter to come to us. The foster parent wrote: “She loved my little boy and loves to explore the house. She did well in the crate last night and did pretty well with my dogs. She takes treats nicely and, surprisingly, she is very confident. I bet she’d make an amazing agility dog. She is very loving with people but seems to want to do her own thing around other dogs and doesn’t seem playful with them. I hope she finds a great home!” Bindi is a typical herding dog and will require an owner with experience. She is not good for a first-time pet owner. If you are interested in doing dog sports, we believe Bindi would excel at that. She will be available to be placed once she is spayed. Please call (435) 773-5209 to find out more about her. Bindi’s adoption fee is $125.
Lexi
Lexi is a 5-year-old blue nose pit with a sad story. She was dumped out of a car and left in Las Vegas. Through her microchip, she was traced to an elderly gentleman who had Lexi for the first few years of her life but had to move to assisted living and re-homed her. Information on her stops at that point until she was dumped out of the car. She is good with cats and kids. She needs work on leash training and staying around when not on a leash (she thinks you’re playing when she runs off). Other than that, she is an absolute peach. She is a complete snuggle bug who loves belly rubs and gives the best kisses with her giant tongue! She is so easy to love and has tons of love to give. A very friendly dog, she gets along with everybody. She’s been good with other dogs when the other dogs are somewhat calm. She hasn’t shown signs of aggression but gets too energetic when other dogs do and she doesn’t realize how big she is. She has arthritis and has mild skin allergies. For more information on Lexi or to make an appointment to meet her, contact Shayde at (208) 420-3764. Her adoption fee is $125.
Rex
Rex is a handsome guy who is still finding his confidence. He is approximately one year old, he is sweet and has a fair amount of puppy energy so will need regular exercise. He is just starting his training of walking on a leash and getting into a crate. He is so loving, and consistent guidance will help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he has within him. He hasn’t learned how to play with a ball or other toy yet but is good with people and plays well with other dogs of all sizes. Rex’s adoption fee is $125.
Sabrina
After being hit by a car, little Sabrina spent 8 weeks in a cast while her bones healed. She’s 10 years old but loves to adventure by car, trail, or river. Snuggles are her favorite, but she’s not a couch potato. Sabrina lives with several big dogs and enjoys their company. Never once have they heard her bark. Sabrina would be great in any home but, even with her cast off, she will still need tender care until her bones are strong. Sabrina does require daily medication for an enlarged heart but nothing stops this little dog from living life to its fullest. They are still working on house training, but the process is slow due to her broken bones. Sabrina sleeps through the night without urinating and does not urinate on the carpet but will on tile. Her cast may be at fault, and now with it removed, she’ll be more agile and move more easily. To meet Sabrina or find out more about her, contact Andrea or A.J. at (612) 756-2374. Sabrina’s adoption fee is $100 and she is also eligible for their Seniors Helping Seniors Program.
Turbo and Freckles
They were told that Turbo is a 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel/shih tzu blend; Freckles is a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier blend. Both dogs are neutered, and they are a bonded pair. They can only be placed together and only with someone who agrees to keep them together in the future. These are the sweetest two little dogs ever! They are both cuddlers and love to give and receive attention. They like walks, going in the car, or being in the back yard or house with you. They do well with other dogs. They would do best with older, respectful children (age 8 and over). Turbo, as you can see is very overweight. He is on a diet and is exercising daily and won’t be available for adoption until his weight drops a bit. Any potential adopter must be willing to follow through with a weight loss regime for him. Freckles is a little overweight but not as severely as Turbo is. The adoption fee is $250 for the pair.
