Molly
Molly is sure a little doll. She is a poodle-mix and a love bug. She is 9 years old and easy going. She is looking for a lap to cuddle up on. This cute girl won’t last long. Her adoption fee is $75.
Scooby
This guy is going to bring so much happiness and love to his new family. He is playful, charming, and cuddly, and he likes kids. Yes, he’s the whole package. He has manners and is just looking for the perfect home to call his own. He is good with other dogs with correct introductions. He is a 2-year-old sheepdog mix. His adoption fee is $125.
Hera
Hera is very sweet and is approximately 3 years old. She is a very clean cat who is litterbox trained. Hera gets along with other cats and is playful and loving. You need to meet this wonderful cat. Her adoption fee is $75.
Harry
Meet Harry. He is a very special guy. Harry is FIV positive and he’s sweet and spicy. Please don’t overlook Harry because he is FIV positive, but stop and look at him because he is. He can live a very long happy life in the right home. Stop in to meet Harry and learn more about him. He is 5 years old.
Lizzy
Lizzy is a 5-year-old DLH black kitty. She is very sweet and loving. If you are looking to fill your home with a little sugar and spice and lots of cat loves, you need to go meet this beautiful cat. Lizzy gets along with other cats. Her adoption fee is $75.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located five miles north of Kanab at 5001 Angel Canyon Road. All adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. If you have questions about a specific pet or the adoption process, please email adoptions@bestfriends.org. Zeus
Very intelligent Zeus loves to learn and already knows many tricks. He’s doing so well that he passed the Canine Good Citizenship test! He is amazingly smart, great for handling, loves to work with people, and has great focus. Happy and excited to see his human pals, he enjoys playing ball and taking walks. He’s also friendly toward strangers but nervous if there’s a fence between them. Born in 2006, Zeus came to Best Friends from a Colorado shelter. He’s not good with smaller animals and tends to guard his toys. He lived with another dog in the past, but they sometimes got into fights. Zeus would be so happy in a real home. Could you teach this smart boy what second chances are all about? Zeus has a generous sponsor who will cover his adoption costs.
Yuma
Yuma is a joy to have around. She gets really excited to meet people (her second favorite thing behind toys). But she’s been learning that it’s much more polite to lie down and wait for people to come down to her than to jump up and greet them. Politeness gets you lots of tummy rubs and back scratches, and that’s all Yuma wants in life (and maybe a few appropriate toys). Born in 2008, Yuma is bright and healthy but with some sensitivity to the sun. She doesn’t do well with other dogs and is looking to be your one and only. She is very gentle and calm in a home setting. She knows tons of cool tricks and is always ready for something new! Yuma has a generous sponsor who will cover her adoption costs.
Zemo
Shy Zemo has had to work hard to overcome his tendency to run and hide from people. Born in 2008, he came to Best Friends from a rescue group that closed its doors, and it’s likely he hadn’t had much human contact before. He is still learning that people are okay and that trust is possible. He’s trying his best to get comfortable with humans and will accept pets. Being around other dogs really helps with his confidence, so he’d do best in a home with a doggie pal or two. But what he really needs is someone who is willing to be very patient with him and help him be the best and the bravest dog he can possibly be.
Zula
If Zula could talk, she’d tell you, “Girls just wanna have fun!” This gorgeous, longhaired torbie has a goofy side that shines through when she plays with other kitties or wakes up from a nap and looks at you with her tongue sticking out. (Don’t worry; there’s nothing wrong with her mouth. She’s just a character!) Born in 2010, Zula is in good health. When she first arrived at the sanctuary from an Arizona rescue group, she accepted pets while she was inside a cat carrier or tower. Now that she’s got the run of the place, she’d rather be scatting about. But she’s so adorable that you just want to snuggle her, something her caregivers hope may be possible someday. Could you be the one to embrace Zula someday?
Yoby
If you can’t find Yoby, he’s probably eating! He wants to know everybody (human, that is) and will entertain you with his wand-toy-inspired moves. This sweet, active boy (born in 2012) arrived at Best Friends from Los Angeles. You can talk to him about anything or engage him in some petting time, and he’ll accept with enthusiasm. He is playful, sweet, and a bit goofy. He enjoys going on sleepovers and taking rides in a stroller. When it comes to other cats, he can crash a crowd like a herd of buffalo. He has no qualms about pushing himself center stage. Yoby has Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so he’ll need to be an only cat or live with other FeLV cats. He is a delightful cat who’d love for you to take him home.
Zorro
Zorro is super friendly with all people. He gets along with other cats but mostly keeps to himself. Born around 2011, Zorro was found as a stray. He has a heart murmur, but it doesn’t affect him at this time. We don’t know if Zorro has ever had a home, but this handsome boy certainly deserves to have one.
The City of Mesquite Animal Shelter
The City of Mesquite Animal Shelter is located at 795 Hardy Way and is open for adoptions Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. Please call (702) 346-7415 during these hours to speak to the front desk, or visit mesquiteanimalshelter.petfinder.com. Animal Control may be reached by phone or voicemail at (702) 346-5268. Adoption fees include spaying or neutering and a one-year rabies shot. Mesquite residents only receive one-year city pet licenses.
Scruffy
Scruffy was found as a stray, and it is hard to believe that no one has come to claim the cutie. He is approximately 1–2 years old, leaning closer to the 1-year-old mark. He is high energy and will keep you busy keeping up with him. He can jump a 4 ft. fence and will need a secure yard to keep him from going off on adventures. He does well on a leash. He loved his bath and blow dry day at the shelter spa. He is learning to play with toys. His adoption fee is $60.
Lily
Lily’s owner could no longer keep her. This 7-year-old sweet tiny lady weighs in at 2.9 lbs. She is good on a leash and loves going for walks. She likes people and being with you and snuggles. She was in a home with another dog but will do best as the only dog. Her adoption fee is $60.
Kitty
Kitty was brought to shelter when her owner could no longer have a pet in the apartment. Kitty is seven years old and has lived in two different homes. She is a little shy due to having to come to the shelter but will come when called. She is talkative and loves being brushed and petted. She will sit on your lap or beside you for attention. Although she lived in a home with another cat and a dog, she was not that fond of her companions since they wanted to play and she was more interested in being left alone. Kitty could use a diet and exercise routine. Her adoption fee is $40.
Hurricane City Animal Shelter
Hurricane City Animal Shelter is located at 2084 S 700 W in Hurricane. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays. They work very hard to keep their facility clean and their adoptable animals comfortable during their stay with them. Adoption fees are $20 for cats and $30 for dogs. The adoption fee includes a goodie bag and a certificate for a free health exam with either one of the veterinarians in Hurricane. All pets must be sterilized prior to going into their new home if they haven’t been already. Phone: (435) 635-8314.
Gizmo
This pup is absolutely awesome! Gizmo is approximately 4 to 5 months old, and this youngster is gonna grow up to be a big dog. He’s a blend of Rottweiler, shepherd, and probably a few other things thrown in for good measure. Gizmo is super sweet and just adores people. No doubt he would be amazing with kids. And he would probably enjoy a canine companion. They do not know how Gizmo is with cats. He needs just a little bit of fine tuning with his potty training. And Gizmo is a typical puppy who just loves to play. His favorite thing in the world right now seems to be finding a stick and running around with it. This boy is just a joy to be around. Gizmo is lovable, loyal, gentle, and eager to please. If you’ve been looking for an all-around great dog, Gizmo just might be the one for you! Get to the shelter as soon as you can to meet him, because Gizmo is ready to go home with you today. When he is old enough, Gizmo will be required to be neutered per the shelter adoption policy.
Duece
Deuce is a big, goofy boy who just wants to play and have fun! With that being said, he needs an owner who will be patient and consistent with him to help him be the very best dog he can be. He is smart and catches on quickly. Eager to please, Deuce will be an awesome companion with just a bit of training. Deuce is approximately 5 years old and will need to be neutered prior to going into his new home. This energetic, black-and-white mixed breed is ready to run and romp with anyone who can keep up with him. He is a large dog and isn’t aware of his size, so he may not be a good fit with little kids. Deuce would be great with someone who is very active and will take him out on long hikes. He would probably love to be out on a farm or ranch where he could have a lot of land to roam around on.
Oreo
This big fella is Oreo, and just like the cookie he is named after, he has a very sweet center! Oreo came to the shelter as a stray, so they don’t know anything about his past. He is a large tomcat, so we can just imagine the scrapes and scuffles he has been in. However, in spite of his rough exterior, this kitty enjoys a gentle touch and kind petting. Oreo uses his litterbox like a pro. He would love nothing more than to perform varmint control on your property. The reward for all of his hard work would be fresh food and water every day along with a nice warm and safe spot where he can nap. A gentle head scratch would sure be appreciated, too. Looking for efficient, adorable, and furry pest control? Oreo is the kitty for you. Get in and meet him today. Oreo will need to be neutered prior to going into his new home.
Jinx
Jinx came to the shelter as a stray, so her history is a mystery to them. This beautiful black-and-white sweetheart just loves to have her long, lovely fur petted. Because she has been out on her own for a while, Jinx did have some matting in her fur that will need to be removed. One of their volunteers helped Jinx out by shaving off those horrible mats to free her from the discomfort of them. With that being said, Jinx is currently no longer a poof of fluff. She is now sporting what is called a “lion cut.” But no worries! Her gorgeous fur will grow back soon, and she will once again be her spectacular, fluffy self. Jinx is looking for someone who will help her keep her gorgeous coat sleek and groomed by brushing her regularly. That’s a wonderful way to strengthen the bond between feline and their person. Jinx uses her litter box like a pro. They don’t know how she is with other cats but she doesn’t seem to mind the kittens at the shelter. They also don’t know how she is with dogs. Jinx would no doubt be just fine around children who are gentle with and respectful of her. She’s a gorgeous kitty who deserves a safe and loving home where she will be a cherished member of the family always. Get into the shelter soon to meet Jinx!

Candy
Candy is a 4-month-old border collie mix puppy. She is super sweet and playful. She is good with other dogs and children. Contact RSQ DOGS+ if you are interested in this sweet pup.
Edison
Edison is a gorgeous one-year-old border collie. He is very sweet and smart but a little scared right now since he just arrived at the RSQ DOGS+ center. He is good with other dogs and children. You will want to go in and meet this handsome boy.
Harley
Harley loves to be held and feel safe. She is very quiet and likes to hide. She would prefer to be the only animal in a quiet home. She has a very unique look to her. Harley would love a cuddle.
Princess
Princess is a 1-year-old tabby who is just finishing up nursing three darling kittens. She is ready to find her forever home. She is a bonded pair with Cooper, and we would love to see them adopted together if possible. Princess is currently at a foster home with her sweetheart.
Cooper
Cooper is a very sweet young (1-year-old) male cat looking for his forever family. He was part of a bonded pair (with Princess), but Princess was pregnant and now has three darling kittens. Cooper can be adopted alone, or if you are looking to adopt two cats and can wait a few weeks for the second one, we would love to reunite these two lovebirds. Cooper is currently at a foster home with his sweetheart.

Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Chuck
Chuck is a happy, loving boy who wants to be with his human all the time, be it walking, on your lap, or sleeping. He is constantly tracking your location because he just wants to be near you. Chuck is approximately 4 years old and was surrendered when his human became sick and unable to care for him. He’s a great little walker and curious about his surroundings. Chuck seems to play well with other dogs close to his size but can be aggressive with larger dogs. A potential adopter who owns other dogs should arrange a meeting between Chuck and their dog to determine compatibility. Chuck should be in an adult-only home. He does not have the patience to deal with children. Chuck would do best with an owner experienced with opinionated dogs. To welcome Chuck into your family, contact Aggie (435) 773-1667 or Sue at (801) 554-3378. Chuck’s adoption fee is $125.
Baley
Baley, a German Shepherd in a Chihuahua body, ended up at a local shelter after his owner died, and there was no one to take care of him. He is a happy little guy who just wants a lap to sit on, a warm bed, some walks and car rides, and of course food and water. BAM does know that he shared a kennel space with another dog and is good with them, but they don’t know about cats or children. Toddlers probably shouldn’t be in the picture since he was in an adult-only home before, but older, respectful children would probably be fine. Baley is ready to go to a new family immediately. His adoption fee is $125. To meet Baley or find out more about him, contact Aggie (435) 773-1667 or Sue at (801) 554-3378.
Chico
Chico is approximately 3 years old and came to BAM with his buddy Pepe. He is very loving with his people and is just waiting for the right family so he can share his love and cute personality. His adoption fee is $125. To meet Chico, contact Ryan at (435) 680-6666.
