RSQ DOGS+
RSQ DOGS+ is southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. All of the animals in its care are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and any medical care they may need. Please contact RSQ DOGS+ for more information at (800) 897-1136 or rsqdogsutah@gmail.com, or visit rsqdogsutah.org.
Ever
The only way to describe Baby Ever is happy! She is a 5-month-old albino pit bull puppy who enjoys playing with other dogs and snuggling with her people. She was born with a birth defect that bows her front legs out, but she doesn’t let that stop her. Despite her rough start (she was severely underweight when she first came to the shelter), Ever is making daily improvements and is very friendly and playful. However, she is still a special-needs pup. Ever is looking for a home where her human is home most of the time; She is still very much a puppy and will need a lot of attention. Ever is good with other dogs and children.
Raven
Raven is around four years old and absolutely beautiful. She does well with people but seems uncomfortable with other dogs. They are working to help her feel more at ease. In the meantime, she gets lots of love and attention from people and she absolutely loves the one on one interactions. Raven is also good with children.
Jeffery
This cutie is about perfect in every way! Jeffrey the Ewok is approximately 6 months old, completely vetted and ready to find his new family. Jeffrey is good with other dogs and children.
Oscar
Oscar is an adorable kitten that came to RSQ DOGS+ with his sister Cleo. Oscar loves to cuddle and purr. He may be a bit shy at first but warms up to you quickly. Oscar and Cleo are looking to find their forever home together. If you are looking for two kittens to add to your family, you will hit the jackpot with these two. They would be good in a home with other cats and/or children.
Cleo
Cleo is a darling little girl who came to us with her brother Oscar. Both Cleo and Oscar are a little shy at first but warm up to you quickly. Cleo and Oscar are looking to find a home together. If you would like to add two adorable kittens to your family, you can’t go wrong with Cleo and Oscar. They would be good in a home with other cats and/or children.
Tilly
Tilly is a very sweet girl but just a little temperamental. Who can blame the poor girl, though, as she was abandoned by her owner to a high kill shelter? She is now safe with RSQ DOGS+ but she really needs a home where she can feel loved. Tilly so deserves a loving home that RSQ DOGS+ has waived her adoption fee. She would prefer a home with no dogs.

Peaches
Peaches is a 2-year-old corgi mix. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. She is very calm and easygoing. She likes to chase cats, so she is looking for a catless home. Her adoption fee is $125.
Anna
Anna is a three-legged little bundle of love. She is suspicious of men, so she prefers women and a calm home. Her adoption fee is $125.
Sunny
Sunny is quite beautiful, and his markings are unique. He is a bit shy at first but is so loving and calm. His adoption fee is $75.
E.J.
E.J. Is a real sweetheart. He’s extremely friendly and very loving. This 4-year-old tabby cat is HIV positive, so he should be an only cat. Even with the HIV, he should live a long and happy life. His adoption fee is $75.
Split
Split is a 3-year-old special girl. She is very social and friendly. She loves to play. She gets along with other cats and has lived with a dog. Her adoption fee is $75.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located five miles north of Kanab at 5001 Angel Canyon Road. All adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. If you have questions about a specific pet or the adoption process, please email adoptions@bestfriends.org. If you’d like to apply to adopt one of these featured pets, click the link to their bio where you will find the adoption survey.
Marlin
Adopt a friendly, playful, snuggly puppy! All Best Friends puppies need to be taught all those good things that puppies need to learn in order to grow up to be adult dogs, of course. A puppy is a project! But there’s nothing these little ones would love more than to grow right up into your family. Marlin was born in November 2017 and came from an animal rescue organization in Arizona.
Niam
Niam’s very favorite thing is his ball. He loves playing fetch so much that he can be obsessive about it. He needs structure, including a specific area where fetch happens. Other things that Niam loves include jumping in his pool (or in any water) to cool off on a hot summer day and car rides. He’d be a great hiking dog, too. Niam is very anxious in fast-paced environments. He is currently on prescription medication, and he gets quiet outings to help with his anxiety. He calms down wonderfully when he has quiet time in one of the sanctuary offices and when he goes on sleepovers with Dogtown volunteers. He will likely settle down nicely once he’s spent some time in a home and has a chance to get adjusted to his new schedule. Born in 2011, Niam is very sweet with people, but he has shown aggression toward other dogs and will need to be the only dog in a home. At the sanctuary, he’s doing training to improve his focus on walks and his recall. He’s also learning to wait for his food bowl and for being leashed up. He’s doing nose work (a fun search-and-scenting sport) to get his mind focused on something else other than his ball. Niam would do best with a person who is active and patient and who can provide him with lots of training.
Ollie
Ollie is shy with strangers, but once you’re his friend, he’ll show you only the deepest dedication. He overcomes his worries quickly, so all he needs is a little time to become someone’s best bud. Ollie was born in 2013, and he loves the great outdoors. He walks perfectly on a leash, enjoys having some space to roam around in and would make a fantastic running partner. Ollie has come a long way since he came to the sanctuary, and he can’t wait to find a home where he can continue to overcome his anxieties and increase his confidence. He’d also prefer to be someone’s one and only, though he may be able to live with the right dog. If you’re ready to turn this shy boy into your very best friend, Ollie would love to meet you. Ollie has a generous sponsor who will cover his adoption costs.
Ming
She has the cutest little voice like a music box, and when you get to know this beautiful little cat, you might just get to hear it. Of course, it takes some time to bond with her. For a while, she’ll play the “check you out, run away, check out you again, run away again” game. But once she’s done with that and she’s learned that you love her, her eyes will light up every time she sees you. She’ll purr for you, she’ll thank you for a treat, and she’ll ask you to pet her. But most of all, she’ll just make you feel like you’ve become her world. Poor Ming was found as a stray with all kinds of ailments. She has feline leukemia and asthma. She’s going to need a very giving person to come love her and take her under their wing. She gets along fine with other feline leukemia cats (some more than others, of course). She’s also very comfortable around dogs. And she’s just hoping and praying that there’s someone out there who can love her, challenges and all.
Neelix
Once he gets to know you, Neelix is outgoing and sweet. He is very nervous, however, with new people and situations and it takes him a while to adjust. He tolerates other cats but doesn’t interact much. Born in 2014, he came from a rescue group in Washington. He tests positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so he needs to be an only cat or live with just a few other FeLV cats. That also suits his temperament. He’ll make a great companion for someone who is willing to give him time and lots of reassurance in a quiet home.
Orchid
Orchid is very timid, but she’s learning to trust people. She’ll let you pet her once in a while if she feels safe. She can be motivated by food, and she will play with you if you have a string toy. Born in 2013, she came from an animal control in California. Orchid is a really sweet girl who is looking for a quiet household with someone very loving. Do you have enough love and patience to see this flower blossom?

Animal Control may be reached by phone or voicemail at (702) 346-5268. Adoption fees include spaying or neutering and a one-year rabies shot. Mesquite residents only receive one-year city pet licenses.
Courtney
Courtney was found in the desert with a purple collar. No one called or came to claim her. She is a friendly dog. She knows sit and does well walking on a leash. Courtney would need to be the only dog in the home as she does not like to share attention or space with other dogs.
Paris
Paris came to the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is a pretty orange-and-white spotted tabby. Paris came from a home where she had access to a doggie door. She is getting used to being an inside kitty. Paris starts purring the minute she sees anyone and walks around serenading everyone. She is easily handled. Her adoption fee is $40.

It offers fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped animals for adoption through a network of foster homes and the Because Animals Matter Center, a transition facility. It also welcomes volunteers for a variety of activities and needs foster families for animals awaiting their forever homes. Please contact Because Animals Matter at (435) 773-5209 or visit becauseanimalsmatter.com for more information.
Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Chuck
Chuck is a happy, loving boy who wants to be with his human all the time, be it walking, on your lap, or sleeping. He is constantly tracking your location because he just wants to be near you. Chuck is approximately 4 years old and was surrendered when his human became sick and unable to care for him. He’s a great little walker and is curious about his surroundings. Chuck seems to play well with other dogs close to his size but can be aggressive with larger dogs. A potential adopter who owns other dogs should arrange a meeting between Chuck and their dog to determine compatibility. Chuck should be in an adult-only home. He does not have the patience to deal with children. Chuck would do best with an owner experienced with opinionated dogs. To welcome Chuck into your family, contact Aggie (435) 773-1667 or Sue at (801) 554-3378. Chuck’s adoption fee is $125.
Pebbles
Pebbles is a sweet little dog with a lot of love to give. A small dog with a big personality, Pebbles is about 4 years old but hasn’t had much contact with people so is quite cautious when meeting new people and takes some time to get comfortable. However, once he gets to know you, he is warm and loving with his favorite place being in the arms of his person. Very playful with other small dogs, he walks well on a leash while displaying typical “small dog bark bigger than his bite” attitude. To welcome Pebbles into your family, call Phyllis at (435) 862-2207. His adoption fee is $125.
Timothy
Timothy is a dwarf Hotot bunny and is so sweet and easy to care for. He is potty trained (for the most part), using a corner litter box with compressed paper pellets. He loves fruit treats and hay and eats regular pelleted rabbit food. Timothy’s favorites outside of his normal diet are carrots, blueberries, papaya, and strawberries. While Timothy hasn’t been handled a lot, he is very curious and friendly and gets downright chill when he’s turned into a bunny burrito … that means when he is wrapped in a blanket or towel. This method would make even trimming his nails a breeze. To find out more about Timothy or to arrange to meet him, call Jean at (435) 229-4674. Timothy’s adoption fee (including cage) is $50. Timothy is also microchipped.
Hurricane City Animal Shelter
Hurricane City Animal Shelter is located at 2084 S 700 W in Hurricane. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays. They work very hard to keep their facility clean and their adoptable animals comfortable during their stay with them. Adoption fees are $20 for cats and $30 for dogs. The adoption fee includes a goodie bag and a certificate for a free health exam with either one of the veterinarians in Hurricane. All pets must be sterilized prior to being adopted.
Daffodil
This lovely lady is Daffodil. She was found as a stray waddling around in someone’s yard in Hurricane. If she is not reclaimed, Daffodil will be available to adopt.
Bandit
Freckle-faced Bandit is sure to steal your heart away! This beautiful boy came to the shelter because his owners were moving and could not take him with them. Bandit was very frightened when he first came here, but with a bit of time and patience and a lot of love, he is doing great now. They were told he is a blend of Australian shepherd, border collie, heeler, and probably a few other things mixed in for good measure. Medium-sized Bandit is about 4 years old. He is house trained, absolutely loves camping, and especially adores being petted. Bandit just wants to be right next to you and will happily roll over for belly rubs. Bandit is super sweet and extra cuddly. However, they were told that he does not do well with little kids or other dogs. They aren’t sure how he is with cats. Bandit is a wonderful dog who is looking for his fur-ever home where he will truly be loved and cherished always.
Dolly
Well, hello, Dolly! This sweet brindle-and-white pittie mix is all about kisses, love, and play! Dolly came to the shelter as a stray, so her history is a mystery. Darling Dolly seems to love everyone she meets. They are not sure how she is with other dogs or cats. Dolly needs to be spayed before she can go into her new home.
Zelda
Pretty little Zelda is a super sweet little orange tabby who is exceptionally snuggly and cuddly. This little charmer is just about one year old. She loves kids and dogs but they aren’t sure how she is with other kitties. Zelda uses her litter box like a champ. Zelda is an exceptional kitty who would make an amazing feline friend for anyone who loves cats.
Raven
Raven is a black, satiny beauty. With her large, golden eyes and her sleek, gorgeous fur, this little girl is absolutely stunning. And if that isn’t enough to make her unique, Raven has a bob tail! Raven came to the shelter as a stray, so her history is a mystery. This delicate darling is shy but she does enjoy gentle petting. Raven uses her litter box like a pro. She would probably do best in a quiet home without little kids. Please don’t overlook the shy, quiet pets available to adopt at the shelter. Sometimes they just need extra time, patience, and love to feel comfortable enough to come out of their shells. Don’t miss out on the chance to visit the spectacular, jet black feline.
Pixyl
Ever wonder what it’s like to hug a cloud? Wrap your arms around this extra soft and fluffy little girl and you’ll find out! Pixyl is a gorgeous dilute calico kitty with the prettiest colors in her fur. Those clear, green eyes just add to her charm. This beauty knows her way around the litter box. She adores being petted. They don’t know how she is with other cats or dogs, but with a lot of time and patience, she would probably be okay with another four-legged sibling. Pixyl would also be fine with kids who are gentle and kind with her. Pixyl will need someone willing to help her keep her gorgeous coat groomed and tangle-free.
Finnegan
Little Finnegan is actually a FinneGAL! This petite sweetheart is such a treasure. She just adores being petted! Finnegan will purr and make biscuits while you pet her. A bit on the shy side, she would do best in a home with older kids who are gentle and respectful. Finnegan uses her litter box like a pro. They aren’t sure how she is with dogs, but she seems very curious about the other kitties at the shelter.
