Postre
Postre has the sweetest soul. You can see it in his eyes. He also has an adorable, squishy face. He’s easygoing and doesn’t complain about anything. Born in 2014, Postre is still learning lots of new things. He loves being praised and tries his hardest to do what he’s asked, even when he gets distracted. While he can be highly excitable on a leash, his caregivers are working with him on it. Postre’s a little picky with his doggie friends and prefers females. He’d be happy in a home with the right doggie friend or as your only furry friend. Postre has a generous sponsor who will cover his adoption and transport costs.
Rainey
Rainey is looking for someone who will stay with her and keep her safe. She was abandoned at a vet clinic in Wyoming after she’d just had puppies and then came to Best Friends from a rescue organization there. Rainey really wants love and affection. She likes to go on walks and to dog parks, though she gets along much better with male dogs than other females. She is a hound who likes to bay and may try to escape if left alone too long. It seems that Rainey just needs a little assurance that someone will love her and want to keep her forever. She was born in 2009 and still has plenty of love to share.
Rocky
Rocky is a big, beautiful dog who especially loves women. A little shy at first, he soon relaxes and wants to be friends. And if you talk baby talk to him, he’ll follow you anywhere! With people he already knows, Rocky is eager for attention. He also enjoys splashing and relaxing in his pool. Born in 2009, he’s in good health. Rocky has no idea how big he is, and when he sees a friend, he may jump up with excitement. But he’s eager to please and a quick learner. He’s terrible with small dogs, though, and although he’s working on his dog communication skills in general, he should avoid small dogs. Rocky just needs to find a big dog lover who won’t let his size stand in the way of being best friends. Could you be the one he’s longing to meet? Rocky is part of our Single Pets program! That means that he is eligible for a free flight home and waived adoption fee! Single pets do best as the only dog or cat in the home.
Paloma
Paloma is sweet and gentle. She’s quiet and doesn’t like to be picked up. But if you approach her, she does like to be petted and brushed. She has a very soft meow. She likes to keep to herself, but she does get along with other cats. Born in 2012, Paloma came from a community cat colony. She tests positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so she will need to live with other FeLV kitties or be an only cat.
Q
Q doesn’t like fast movement, but if you approach him slowly, he’ll let you pet him. He doesn’t mind the company of other cats. Born in 2016, he came from an overcrowded situation. Although very shy at first, Q is never aggressive. He has a heart murmur but is not on any medical treatment. They are sure that Q would do well in a quiet home and very well may come out of his shell with time and patience.
Ruby
Ruby’s outstanding feature is her tail, which looks like the plume of a quill pen! She was born in early 2013 and came to Best Friends from a cat rescue group in Arizona. Ruby can be shy at first, but then she’ll meow, asking to be petted. She likes to hide, but will ask for attention when she feels confident with new people. Ruby has Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so she would need to be an only cat or live with other FeLV cats.

Patches
Patches is a little bit shy when you first meet him but will warm up quickly. This 1-year-old border collie-X is a fun dog and would love to have a partner whom he could explore and play with. Patches is smart, enjoys his training, and knows his basic commands. Patches is due to be neutered April 18. His adoption fee is 125.
Milo
Milo is a 3-year-old handsome guy who loves to play with his cat toys and his friends at the shelter. He is very social and loves attention. Milo is looking for his forever family. His adoption fee is $75.
Angel
Angel is a quiet and calm 2-year-old beauty. She gets along well with other cats and would make a lovely companion. Angel is looking for a loving family that can appreciate her sweet personality and quiet charm. Her adoption fee is $150.
Boo
Boo is a 2-year-old male who is a lot of fun and so playful, don’t let the serious look of his photo fool you. Boo gets along with other cats and would make a good companion. He is the type of guy that would play around all day and be ready for TV and some cuddle time in the evening. His adoption fee is $75.
RSQ DOGS+
RSQ DOGS+ is southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. Hudson
Hudson is a gorgeous 8-month-old blonde husky mix without a tail. He seems so gentle and loving. Loves going for walks and is good with other dogs. Hudson would do well with an active family. He’s such a beautiful boy and deserves a loving furever home. Is it yours?
Indie
This darling girl is approximately 2 years old and super friendly. They are not sure of her breed, but they are thinking possibly Labrador retriever and Australian shepherd mix. Indie loves people and gets along well with other dogs and children.
Raven
Raven is around four years old and absolutely beautiful. She does well with people but seems uncomfortable with other dogs. They are working to help her feel more at ease. In the meantime, she gets lots of love and attention from people and she absolutely loves the one-on-one interactions. Raven is also good with children.
Phobe
Phoebe is a Persian mix, and she is as sweet as she looks. She would love a quiet home where she can sit in someone’s lap. They don’t know all that she has been through, but they do know that she ended up in a high-kill shelter with her brother. And sadly, he passed away before getting to rescue. Phoebe is currently only 5 pounds. She needs a home where she can feel safe and start working toward a healthy weight.
Tilly
Tilly is a very sweet girl but just a little temperamental. Who can blame the poor girl, though, as she was abandoned by her owner to a high-kill shelter? She is now safe with RSQ DOGS+, but she really needs a home where she can feel loved. Tilly so deserves a loving home that RSQ DOGS+ has waived her adoption fee. She would prefer a home with no dogs.
Hurricane City Animal Shelter
Hurricane City Animal Shelter is located at 2084 S 700 W in Hurricane. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays. They work very hard to keep their facility clean and their adoptable animals comfortable during their stay with them. Adoption fees are $20 for cats and $30 for dogs. The adoption fee includes a goodie bag and a certificate for a free health exam with either one of the veterinarians in Hurricane. All pets must be sterilized prior to being adopted.
Daisy
Sweet Daisy needs to be the only dog in the house. She does not get along with other dogs at all. This darling Schnauzer/terrier mix is about 4 years old. Daisy is spayed, house trained, and current with her vaccinations. She just loves kids! She also gets along with cats. Daisy is a real cuddler. She also does terrific in the car and enjoys going on road trips. In addition, this girl is a pro at the game of fetch! Daisy becomes anxious when she hears loud noises such as fireworks. She needs to be kept safe in the house on holidays like the Fourth of July and Pioneer Day. Daisy is as sweet as they come. If you’ve been looking for an all-around, fun-loving, super cute and completely adorable dog to add to your home, get in and meet Daisy! She is ready to go home with you today!
Bandit
Freckle-faced Bandit is sure to steal your heart away! This beautiful boy came to the shelter because his owners were moving and could not take him with them. Bandit was very frightened when he first came here, but with a bit of time and patience and a lot of love, he is doing great now. They were told he is a blend of Australian shepherd, border collie, heeler, and probably a few other things mixed in for good measure. Medium-sized Bandit is about 4 years old. He is house trained, absolutely loves camping, and especially adores being petted. Bandit just wants to be right next to you and will happily roll over for belly rubs. Bandit is super sweet and extra cuddly. However, they were told that he does not do well with little kids or other dogs. They aren’t sure how he is with cats. Bandit is a wonderful dog who is looking for his fur-ever home where he will truly be loved and cherished always.
Zelda
Pretty little Zelda is a super sweet little orange tabby who is exceptionally snuggly and cuddly. This little charmer is just about one year old. She loves kids and dogs but they aren’t sure how she is with other kitties. Zelda uses her litter box like a champ. Zelda is an exceptional kitty who would make an amazing feline friend for anyone who loves cats.
Raven
Raven is a black, satiny beauty. With her large, golden eyes and her sleek, gorgeous fur, this little girl is absolutely stunning. And if that isn’t enough to make her unique, Raven has a bob tail! Raven came to the shelter as a stray, so her history is a mystery. This delicate darling is shy, but she does enjoy gentle petting. Raven uses her litter box like a pro. She would probably do best in a quiet home without little kids. Please don’t overlook the shy, quiet pets available to adopt at the shelter. Sometimes they just need extra time, patience, and love to feel comfortable enough to come out of their shells. Don’t miss out on the chance to visit the spectacular, jet-black feline.
Pixyl
Ever wonder what it’s like to hug a cloud? Wrap your arms around this extra soft and fluffy little girl and you’ll find out! Pixyl is a gorgeous dilute calico kitty with the prettiest colors in her fur. Those clear, green eyes just add to her charm. This beauty knows her way around the litter box. She adores being petted. They don’t know how she is with other cats or dogs, but with a lot of time and patience, she would probably be okay with another four-legged sibling. Pixyl would also be fine with kids who are gentle and kind with her. Pixyl will need someone willing to help her keep her gorgeous coat groomed and tangle-free.
Fern
First they named her Finnegan, because they thought she was a he. Then we named her Finnegal once they knew she was a female. Now, they have decided to call her Fern, because it’s a lovely name for a very sweet, pretty little kitty. This petite sweetheart is such a treasure. She just adores being petted. Fern will purr and make biscuits while you pet her. A bit on the shy side, she would do best in a home with older kids who are gentle and respectful. Fern uses her litter box like a pro. They aren’t sure how she is with dogs, but she seems very curious about the other kitties at the shelter.

Walt
Walt is approximately 8 years old. He would like nothing better than to go on a walk with you, go for a run in the desert, be your companion, and then lay down at your feet at the end of the day (or in your lap … he likes laps a lot). Older children would be best for him, and he would also be a great pet for an older couple. Walt is well behaved in a house, and although he is crate trained, he prefers to live in close proximity with his humans. Walt’s foster mom says he is a great dog and he deserves a home of his own. Walt’s only problem is that nobody wants to adopt him because he has stage 1 kidney failure and requires a special diet. The vet says he could live a couple of years, or more, or less. There’s just no telling, but if you’ve seen the videos of him running in the desert, you would know he’s not ready to cash it in yet. Everyone who knows Walt believes he deserves a family. Are you a family that is willing to give love and be loved, even if it is time-limited? If so, call Corinne at (435) 760-3414 and set up a time to meet him. You will fall in love with him … everyone does!
Chuck
Chuck is a happy, loving boy who wants to be with his human all the time, be it walking, on your lap, or sleeping. He is constantly tracking your location because he just wants to be near you. Chuck is approximately 4 years old and was surrendered when his human became sick and unable to care for him. He’s a great little walker and is curious about his surroundings. Chuck seems to play well with other dogs close to his size but can be aggressive with larger dogs. A potential adopter who owns other dogs should arrange a meeting between Chuck and their dog to determine compatibility. Chuck should be in an adult-only home. He does not have the patience to deal with children. Chuck would do best with an owner experienced with opinionated dogs. To welcome Chuck into your family, contact Aggie (435) 773-1667 or Sue at (801) 554-3378. Chuck’s adoption fee is $125.
Pebbles
Pebbles is a sweet little dog with a lot of love to give. A small dog with a big personality, Pebbles is about 4 years old but hasn’t had much contact with people so is quite cautious when meeting new people and takes some time to get comfortable. However, once he gets to know you, he is warm and loving with his favorite place being in the arms of his person. Very playful with other small dogs, he walks well on a leash while displaying typical “small dog bark bigger than his bite” attitude. To welcome Pebbles into your family, call Phyllis at (435) 862-2207. His adoption fee is $125.
Timothy
Timothy is a dwarf Hotot bunny and is so sweet and easy to care for. He is potty trained (for the most part), using a corner litter box with compressed paper pellets. He loves fruit treats and hay and eats regular pelleted rabbit food. Timothy’s favorites outside of his normal diet are carrots, blueberries, papaya, and strawberries. While Timothy hasn’t been handled a lot, he is very curious and friendly and gets downright chill when he’s turned into a bunny burrito … that means when he is wrapped in a blanket or towel. This method would make even trimming his nails a breeze. To find out more about Timothy or to arrange to meet him, call Jean at (435) 229-4674. Timothy’s adoption fee (including cage) is $50. Timothy is also microchipped.
