Because Animals Matter
Because Animals Matter is dedicated to reducing animal abuse and neglect through education. It offers fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped animals for adoption through a network of foster homes and the Because Animals Matter Center, a transition facility. It also welcomes volunteers for a variety of activities and needs foster families for animals awaiting their forever homes. Lucy and Sadie
Have you been looking for that special female to add to your life? We have a top notch gal who will stare deep into your eyes and give you unlimited companionship. What’s better than that? We have all that TIMES TWO! BAM has two perfect beagles who entered care together but can be adopted together or separately if you don’t have enough love to split between them both.
What’s more, these regal ladies are on the mature side so they’re already housebroken and know how to do the puppy dog eyes when you’re eating something tasty and forgetting to share with them. Lucy is the resident redhead while Sadie is a bit more weathered around her face. Whether you pick one or both, you won’t be disappointed! Sadie might be older but is definitely more adventurous of spirit and lively, though BAM suspects Lucy is deaf and that likely has a lot to do with her being a little more cautious and measured. Eva
Sweet senior Eva loves to go on car rides and for walks. She also loves to play with toys once she gets comfortable. Just because you’re a little older doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life after all. Between those rides and walks and playing, she likes to have a nice comfy bed to rest in. Eva is mostly deaf so you might want to teach her some hand signals. On the other hand, she also pays close attention to her human so she isn’t hard to find. Eva does have the beginning of stage 1 kidney disease and eats special food to help her with this. She was incontinent but a prescription of Proin has taken care of this. Because of her kidneys, Eva would especially like a human who is mostly at home and/or a dog door because she does like regular outdoor breaks. Eva is believed to be 10-12 years young. She had a dental and a fatty tumor removed on April 17 so she’s in great shape to now have her own home and lots of love. Tucker
Tucker is an energetic, playful young dog who gets along with just about everyone. He will need guidance to learn all his manners but walks well on a leash and just wants to please his human. Please text or call Julie at (435) 773-5209.
Jade
Jade is one of the terrific adoptable dogs at That BAM Place in Hurricane, UT. You can see what a beautiful girl Jade is but she’s not just a pretty face–she knows “sit”, of course, but will listen and is keen to learn if there is a treat to be had. Jade is a young adult at approximately one-year-old. Jade knows how to use a dog door, loves to play with squeaky balls, enjoys chewing on hard bones, walks well on a leash and plays with their other dogs (large and small). BAM recently took Jade to the vet after she jumped off of something and limped. They found that she may have some arthritis in her elbow but short walks and regular play are still great exercises for her. BAM also learned there that she may have lived with cats previously as the clinic cat was practically rubbing on her with little more reaction than a sniff. RSQ Dogs+ is Southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. All of the animals in their care are fully vetted including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any medical care they may need. Odin
Odin is an approximately 3-month-old Shepherd mix, and as cute as a button. He is sweet, friendly and loves children. He is well on his way to being potty trained. An active family willing to teach adorable Odin the best manners would be a great match. Odin is available as a foster to adopt once all his vetting is completed.
Zeke
Zeke is an 8 week old Border collie/heeler mix. He is cute, sweet, and friendly with children and other dogs. Zeke is currently staying with a foster family. He is available as a foster to adopt when all his vetting is completed.
Bucky
Bucky came to RSQ Dogs from the Hildale impound. He still has some puppyish traits so they think he is under a year old. He has a sweet personality, is good on a leash and gets along with other dogs. He is a nice, medium sized dog, not too big or strong. Labs make loyal forever companions, get in and give Bucky a look.
Elwood
Elwood is a very sweet and loving 7-year-old male. Just look at those markings! He would love a quiet home where he can charm his humans. He is house trained and would do well in a home with other cats, children, or alone.
Bonnie
When RSQ Dogs got Bonnie from a rural area, she had newborn kittens and a chemical burn on her back. She had the burns repaired by removing the burned skin, and she has healed wonderfully! She had one kitten, and she also had her own foster kitten that was taken in as a young kitten with no mother. She willingly mothered him and nursed him as well. Her babies are grown and she is ready for a furever home. She’s a young, friendly, sweet girl!
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located five miles north of Kanab at 5001 Angel Canyon Road. All adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Vishnu
Adopt a friendly, playful, snuggly puppy! All Best Friends puppies are already spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and infused with extra love and cuddles. They need to be taught all those good things that puppies need to learn in order to grow up to be adult dogs, of course. A puppy is a project! But there’s nothing these little ones would love more than to grow right up into your family. Vishnu was born in April 2019 and was abandoned. Lordes
Looking for a toy-loving, people motivated dog? Lordes is working on some weight loss, but she’s ready to walk it off. She’s also willing to work for her food, as she loves food puzzles.Born in 2012, Lordes suffers from anxiety. But her house manners are good (she is housetrained and does not ask to go out at night). She also walks nicely on a leash and doesn’t react to other dogs on her strolls. Can Lordes be the canine queen in your home? Troy
Troy loves people and wants to be near them. He falls for people quickly and tends to get attached after meeting someone only once or twice. He wants to be around people so badly that he used to grab at clothing to prevent them from leaving his room, but training has resolved this. At Dogtown, Troy has learned to go to his “place” and wait patiently while someone is walking away. He knows now that they’ll always come back. Troy has been great with other dogs at the Sanctuary and loves to play with them. Born in 2015, he is very athletic. He can be jumpy and mouthy when overexcited, and he sometimes tries to grab his leash. Now, he’s learning to stay calm when he’s being leashed up so he can go on adventures. If you’re looking for a dog who’ll be happy to stay by your side for life, Troy would love to meet you.
Mesa
Young Mesa is extremely playful and friendly. She loves string toys and though she loves to play with other cats, she can be a bit competitive. Born at the end of 2016, she came from a Pennsylvania shelter. Mesa has Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), so she’ll need to be an only kitty or live with other cats who have the virus. Mesa is a sweet girl who can run like the wind. She’ll do well in an active family.
Rain
Rain can be hesitant with new people, but it doesn’t take her long to warm up. She’s really very sweet, and you can pet her when you earn her trust. Although she does fine with other cats, she prefers her own company. Born in 2011, Rain came from a shelter in northern Utah. She is a beautiful girl who would love to have a person to call her own. It may take her some time to adjust to a new home, but once she did she would be the sweetest, most perfect companion.
Matilda
Matilda is a beautiful cat with gorgeous marking. Everyone who meets her remarks on her beautiful coat. She is an explorer who will dash out any door to see the world. She loves going outside in the stroller or walking on a harness. She can run hot and cold with both people and other cats. Sometimes she wants your attention, but only for a certain amount of time. With other felines, she can keep to herself, or chase them around. Matilda has Feline Leukemia (FeLV), so needs to be an only cat or live with other FeLV positive cats. Born in just April 2015, she is still young and has a lot of energy. They think once she matures and settles down, she’ll make a great lap cat.

Mandy
Mandy is a sweet calm girl looking for her new loving home. If you are looking for a companion dog, here she is. She is potty trained and so loveable. Her adoption fee is $75.
Milo
Milo is adorable, he’s a 4-year-old wire haired Terrier mix. This spunky boy is all about the loving and fun. Get in and meet him at PAWS and hold on to your heart because he’s bound to steal it! His adoption fee is $125.
Randi
Randi is the class clown. This girl is, playful, lively and sweet. This 3-year-old cuddle bunny loves attention and loves to sit on a lap. Her adoption fee is $85.
Sara B
Sara B is a beautiful loving cat. She is 8 years young and such a sweetheart. This sweetheart will make a terrific addition to a family. She’s cuddly, gets along well with other cats and loves attention. Her adoption fee is $85.
Gracie
Gracie is 3 years old and what a beauty. This stunning girl is charming, playful, and striking. Gracie is playful, funny, and loves attention. She gets along well with other cats. Her adoption fee is $85.
The City of Mesquite Animal Shelter
The City of Mesquite Animal Shelter is located at 795 Hardy Way and is open for adoptions Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. Please call (702) 346-7415 during these hours to speak to the front desk, or visit mesquiteanimalshelter.petfinder.com. Animal Control may be reached by phone or voicemail at (702) 346-5268. Adoption fees include spaying or neutering and a one-year rabies shot. Mesquite residents only receive one-year city pet licenses.
Trix
This bunny is sweet sweet sweet. He/she super curious about everything and likes being petted and receiving attention. Trix also doesn’t seem to mind being held and has used the litter box but is still learning about litter-boxes, virtually all waste is contained in the cage/litter-box. The adoption fee is $15.
Raider
Raider is very friendly with people and loves attention. He knows sit and shake and seems to be house trained. He is a very strong boy and would do best in a home with no small children (as he doesn’t realize how strong he is). He was an owner turn-in because he wasn’t getting along with his housemate, so he needs to be the only pet in the home. His adoption fee is $ 60.
Feisty
Feisty is a very special older gentleman in search of a loving home to call his own. This handsome guy has some extra weight to lose and would love to find a home with a great human who will try and get him a little exercise and help him with his diet. Don’t let his size or age fool you Feisty is a sweet boy and loves to be held and brushed. He is very shy and will hide until he feels comfortable. Feisty had a spa day and was shaved. His adoption fee is $20 *senior special.
Luna
Luna’s owner was moving and could not take her and her other house-cat Jade with her. Luna is approximately 2 years old and is friendly. She loves attention and although a little shy she warms up quickly and wants attention and petting. Her adoption fee is $40.
Meg
Meg’s family could no longer keep her. She is a quiet, shy girl, approximately 4 years old. She is easily handled, very sweet, and is talkative. Her adoption fee is $40.
