Introducing the 2019–20 Celebrity Concert Series season
By Ginger Nelson
For over 60 years, the Celebrity Concert Series has provided exceptional standards of performance art entertainment for the community. The Celebrity Concert Series returns in October with the Utah Symphony kicking off the season along with a special classical performance of the Fremont String Quartet and award-winning Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis rounding out the month. Keeping with the tradition of presenting extraordinary entertainment to southern Utah, the 2019-20 season of performances is sure to uplift and inspire.
This year also welcomes the addition of the Classical Choice Series, featuring three groups including The Fremont String Quartet, comprising principal musicians from the Utah Symphony. With new matinee and evening performances held in the Delores Dore Eccles Concert Hall, patrons can fully enjoy the acoustics of world-class classical performers in a world-class space.
From the mesmerizing storytelling and innovative mechanical staging of Cirque Mechanics to the toe-tapping vintage music of a World War II U.S.O. bandstand in Wartime Radio Revue, the selection is sure to elicit a new favorite. The powerhouse vocals of The Texas Tenors are returning to Cox Auditorium stage after appearing on “Americas Got Talent: The Champions Season” for what will be a memorable night out. Utah’s very own Repertory Dance Theater pairs up with live musical accompaniment by 3hattrio for a performance honoring the cultural traditions of previous generations living in the American southwest. Joining the lineup for another December concert, The Dixie State Symphony Orchestra will return in accompaniment to “Herman’s Hermits” starring Peter Noone. The Lettermen, ReVoiced Acapella, and One Night In Memphis round out the season with a selection of something for everyone. A complete list of events and information can be found at dsutix.com.
Single show tickets and ticket package options are available now, which include The Big Ticket (all 13 shows), Cox Auditorium Ten, Flex Ten, Pick 6, and Classical Choice. Ticket packages are customizable for each patron at his desired price point, proving that the Celebrity Concert Series continues to present high-quality events at the best value.
In addition to the regular season, the BYU Ballroom Dance Company will return March 21 as a CCS featured event with tickets available to the general public in December. As a special “thank you,” all ticket-package holders will be granted access to advanced sales Nov. 4. It is not too late to become a season ticket holder and take advantage of this opportunity to secure your seats to BYU Ballroom Dance Company a month before the general public.
