Springdale Tree LightinStory and photos by Greta Hyland

Last night was the annual Springdale Tree Lighting Ceremony. The night kicked off at 5:30pm in front of Sol Foods with jazz music and warm cookies and hot cocoa. As the sun began to go down a fire was lit on the hill to keep attendees warm and to add a festive aura to the event. People talked, laughed, and engaged with the band as classic jazz tunes and Christmas Carols were played, while children ran around playing and filling up on holiday treats. When 7pm rolled around the crowd turned toward the town tree and yelled in unison, “One, two, three: Turn on the tree!” To which the tree magically lit up. It was a fun community event starting off the holiday season in Springdale leading up to the annual Light Parade coming on December 13th.
