– By Sara Penny –
Exceptional music is planned for the Final Friday Art Walk on Aug. 25, from 5 to 8 PM. Entertainment includes: MB3 Jazz, Cellomania, Suzuki Strings, 8eez, Clark Leslie with a Gordon Lightfoot Tribute, and several other groups are scheduled. You are invited to join the artists and musicians for an evening celebrating Cedar City art.
The free event is sponsored by the Cedar City Arts Council. Artists have exhibits at the corner of Center and 100 West and along the sidewalk to the Johnson Center. The Art Walk extends from the Artisans Gallery to Stone Path and on to the Southern Utah Museum of Art. The Sagebrush Fiber Artisans will be back with spinning and other fiber demonstrations. The Orchestra of Southern Utah will have season tickets available.
The Johnson Center is celebrating the opening of its outdoor stage with the popular 8eez Band. They cover popular music from the 80s. Band members are Tamara Reber on vocal, Stan Szczesny on guitar, Lindsay Szczesny on keyboard, Jordan Sanders on bass, and Carylee Zwang on drums.
MB3 Jazz will be at the IG Winery. They perform for community events as well as at Artisans. David Bolsover is on saxophone, with Christian Bohnenstengel on keyboard and Shaun Means on drums.
Cellomania, led by Nina Hansen, will play at the Plaza in front of the Southern Utah Museum of Art. The large cello ensemble includes a wide range of ages and has performed extensively for community events as well as on performance tours.
Clark Leslie plays violin in the Orchestra of Southern Utah, but he also has a wonderful tribute set of vocals and guitar for Gordon Lightfoot for the Stone Path location.
Starting off the evening at Stone Path will be Suzuki Strings Cedar City as they have a play-in of favorite string music. They offer group classes and orchestra for students from elementary through adult. Their website is at www.suzukistringscedarcity.org
Coyote Bluegrass, A Walk to Somewhere, and Roice Nelson return for Art Walk performances. Derek Wood, OSU violinist, will be at Artisans. The full music schedule is below.
