Are you looking to experience something spectacular this weekend? Kanab Balloons and Tunes Roundup is a hot air balloon festival and battle of the bands event set in the scenic red rock majesty of Kanab, UT. The second annual festival takes place this weekend, Feb 19-21.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, pilots will fly their balloons each morning at sunrise from the Coral Cliffs Golf Course located just east of Kanab.
The Battle of the Bands will take place on Friday and Saturday. The winner receives $1,500, second place wins $750, and third place takes home $500. The showdown begins with the first contestants taking the stage on Friday evening. The battle resumes Saturday during the street festival. There will be fire pits and standing heaters throughout the vendor area to warm the crowds in the event of chilly weather. However, the lineup is hot and plenty of dancing should keep attendees plenty warm. Included in the Battle of the Bands are Vindustryous (2015 winner), Tuesday’s Black, American Train, Paint the Woods, Aura Surreal, Giants in the Oak Tree, Slakklash, Float the Boat, Casual T’s, High Dollar, buckit, and Tower of Cards.
Saturday evening, the Balloon Glow will take place at 7 p.m. The streets will be filled with hot air balloons as they provide a burning glow that creates a magical delight for all to experience. The winner of the Battle of the Bands will perform upon being crowned. A Lantern Launch will follow the performance and the Balloon Glow. Lanterns will be available for purchase, so you can launch your own as the night sky is filled with with wishing lanterns floating toward the heavens.

The brunch will be Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Parry Lodge, located at 89 East Center Street in Kanab, UT.
A little history on Parry Lodge shows they are no strangers to hosting big events and big names. The lodge was founded in 1931 by the three Parry brothers, Whitney (Whit), Chauncey (Chaunce), and Gronway (Gron). They have hosted some of the biggest names from the golden age of Hollywood including: John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Olivia De Havilland, Gregory Peck, Maureen O’Hara, Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, Robert Taylor, Anne Bancroft, Dean Martin, Lana Turner, Clint Eastwood, Barbara Stanwyck, and many more. In May 2015, Forever Resorts purchased the Parry Lodge to preserve its history. They believe Parry Lodge is a key location for creating memories for guests traveling in some of the world’s most beautiful places.
