Kane County Hospital Breaks Ground on Outpatient Services Expansion
Kane County Hospital has officially broken ground on a new state-of-the-art Outpatient Services Building (OSB), marking a major investment in expanded healthcare access for southern Utah. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 12, 2024, on the hospital campus in Kanab.
The new 36,800-square-foot facility will significantly increase outpatient services including surgery, physical therapy, dialysis, infusion therapy, chemotherapy, and sleep studies. The building will also house administrative offices and include 5,000 square feet of shelled space for future program expansion.
“This new facility is a vital investment in our community’s healthcare infrastructure,” said Kurt Loveless, CEO of Kane County Hospital. “It will help us meet growing outpatient needs while providing space to evolve with the community.”
Key features include:
- Surgical Suite: 6,000 sq. ft. dedicated to modern surgical services
- Physical Therapy: 2,000 sq. ft. for rehabilitation
- Clinical Care: 13,000 sq. ft. for IV therapy, dialysis, and oncology
- Sleep Center: 800 sq. ft. for diagnostic testing
- Admin & Support: 10,000 sq. ft. for hospital operations

The $26.7 million project is being constructed by Hughes General Contractors, with design by MHTN Architecture. Both firms bring decades of experience in healthcare construction across Utah. The design includes future expansion capability and flexibility for new services as community needs grow.
Completion is anticipated in spring 2027.
