General COVID-19 Infection
& Testing Information
Information regarding the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus for residents in Kanab and Kane County, Utah. The outbreak first started in Wuhan, China, but cases have been identified in a growing number of other locations internationally, including the United States. In addition to CDC, many public health laboratories are now testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.

NEW: CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

Testing capabilities for COVID-19 have increased dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic. Currently, anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms, which include fever, cough, or shortness of breath should be tested for COVID-19.

Animal welfare experts anticipate that communities will experience a surge in the number of pets entering shelters as the spread of COVID-19 affects the health and safety of pet owners, shelter staff, volunteers, animal control officers, and other animal welfare professionals.
