Celebrating two decades of Art in Kayenta
Kayenta, UT – October 8th through Sunday, October 10th, 2021
The Kayenta Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the 21st annual Art in Kayenta Festival!
Each fall, thousands of art enthusiasts and families have been making their way to Kayenta Art Village for Ivins’s annual three-day FREE art festival. Not only do festival-goers enjoy spectacular art, but they are also treated to stunning desert vistas, culinary delights from festival vendors, a beer and wine garden, live music, and Kayenta’s own delightful Xetava Gardens Café.
Guests will have the opportunity to visit a collection of 48 juried, regional and national artists who specialize in sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, wood, metal, and other media. “The quality of art and extent of creative expression at the Festival is extraordinary. Combined with the Art Village setting and backdrop of Ivins red mountain, it is truly a special experience,” states Foundation Chair Rob Goodman.
The Art in Kayenta Festival hosts a silent auction featuring the original work from the attending artists and offerings from local businesses. Festival guests will have the exclusive opportunity to bid on selected art pieces. The auction is hosted by the nonprofit Kayenta Arts Foundation, with proceeds benefiting Center For the Arts at Kayenta (CFAK).
During the Art in Kayenta Festival, CFAK is also presenting “The End of the Horizon” written by Utah Playwright Debora Threedy. The compelling interpretation of the life and mysterious disappearance of the 20-year old Utah Legend Everett Ruess is a tribute to his legions of devotees, all those who wander and long to wander, and the many loved ones who are left in the wake of all types of loss. Ruess was an explorer, artist, poet, and writer whose strange disappearance near Escalante, Utah, has made him the quintessential iconic figure of red rock canyon walkabouts and desert explorers everywhere. Performances are held in the indoor Lorraine Boccardo Theater at the Center For the Arts at Kayenta through October 10th. Tickets are available online or at the box office.
The Kayenta Arts Foundation asks those attending the Festival to abide by COVID-19 safety protocols as stipulated by the State of Utah. Current guidelines can be found at https://coronavirus.utah.gov/utah-health-guidance-levels. The Festival cannot completely mitigate the risks, so please make your own informed decision regarding attendance. If you are sick or exhibiting any symptoms, please stay home.
