Kayenta To Showcase DOCUTAH At The Lorraine Boccardo Theater
The Center for the Arts at Kayenta has an exciting February planned! The Center is thrilled to announce a dynamic collaboration with DOCUTAH, bringing a captivating monthly film series to the Lorraine Boccardo Theater. This partnership aims to foster a deeper connection within the community through the art of storytelling on film, promoting education and creating an atmosphere of camaraderie.
DOCUTAH is renowned for its commitment to opening hearts and minds to the world through beautifully crafted stories on film. With a mission to inspire, inform, and entertain, DOCUTAH has become a beacon for film enthusiasts seeking thought-provoking narratives that transcend cultural boundaries.
Starting Friday, February 2, 2024, the Kayenta Art Village will come alive every First Friday with a vibrant pre-film experience featuring fun, food, and live music beginning at 5:30 PM. Attendees are invited to arrive early to socialize with friends, meet new people, and take part in the sense of community that defines the Kayenta experience.
The Center for the Arts at Kayenta is quickly becoming a premiere arts center for all artistic disciplines. With a refreshed approach to the art of film, this monthly DOCUTAH series joins two other film initiatives in Kayenta: the summer Cinesizzle in July, which showcases twelve narrative films from various independent film festivals across the country, and a new involvement in the Sundance Utah Community Program.
The Center is also proud to announce that two nationally recognized artists will be visiting in February. Enjoy an extraordinary evening of contemporary piano music featuring the renowned pianist Adam Tendler on February 10, 2024. Tendler, an award-winning musician, will present a captivating program that delves into the concept of ‘inheritance,’ drawing from a collection of newly commissioned works by a diverse array of sound artists and composers.
On February 24, 2024, Liz Toonkel will be bringing in her award-winning show, Magic for Animals, a one-woman magic show about agency, consent, and animal rights. Liz Toonkel uses sparkling, incisive humor to offer a refreshing antidote to the gendered and speciesist tradition of magic. She examines how we treat animals and urges us to reconsider how we treat one another.
