Kayenta hosts Voyager Series lecture, “The Search for Another Earth” with Ron Smith
By Merrie Lee
On May 16 from 7 to 9 p.m., Ron Smith will present a lecture, “The Search for Another Earth,” as part of the Voyager Series at Kayenta.
We’ve all gazed up at the vast night sky and experienced awe and wonder. Throughout most of human history, we could only speculate about extraterrestrial life and where it might reside. Now we have applications of new technology to seriously search for life supporting planets. The Kepler Space Telescope has detected over a thousand planets orbiting numerous stars in our galaxy. When the new Webb Space Telescope is deployed in a few years, we’ll have the ability to look for oxygen and water on some of these alien worlds.
How is it possible for us to detect planets so far away? Have we already discovered potential earth-like worlds? Are we alone in the universe? Join retired astronomer and planetarium lecturer Ron Smith on a fascinating voyage in the search for another Earth.
Ron Smith lectures sell out early, so buy your tickets today! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
