The major construction of the Kolob Terrace Road, which runs north from the town of Virgin, has finished and all hard closures completed. Minor construction remains, however, and delays of up to 30 minutes can still be expected from Monday through Thursday, 7 A.M. until 6 P.M., Nov. 2 – Dec. 11. After Dec. 11, the road will be fully reopened and no more delays are anticipated. During the construction period, the road will be fully open Fridays through Sunday.

The normal construction schedule will be in effect on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, but there will be no construction on Thanksgiving, Thursday Nov. 24.

In construction zones, travel may be reduced to a single lane. Travelers are urged to be cautious and to drive slowly through these areas. Visitors to either the main Zion Canyon or the Kolob Canyons sections of the park will not be effected by the construction.

The Kolob Terrace Road leads to the Kolob Terrace section of Zion National Park, one of the least-frequented parts of the park. The terrace is located in the middle part of Zion National Park, north and west of the main Zion Canyon and south of the Kolob Canyons section. The road offers a scenic route between Virgin and Lava Point, a distance of 21 miles. The upper portions of the road typically close during the winter when snow covers the route.
