In a recent press release, the Cedar City Police Department announced that they will be setting up a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 4, on UT14 near milepost 1.5. They state that their goal is to remove impaired and intoxicated motorists with minimal inconvenience to law-abiding drivers. Along these lines, make certain that all pertinent documentation—license, registration and insurance—is readily available.
With this Labor Day weekend sobriety checkpoint, the Cedar City Police Department and other Utah law enforcement agencies hope to assist travelers to depart and arrive at their destinations for the holiday weekend as safely as possible. The checkpoint will “facilitate the smooth flow of traffic” thereby reducing the volume of possible crashes—some of which could be fatal accidents—by removing drivers who are impaired from Utah roads. The sobriety checkpoint will also place strong emphasis on the importance of seat belts and the need for courteous driving in Utah.
