ST. GEORGE — The St. George Museum of Art invites the community to gather on December 6 at 5 PM for Light the Night, a long-standing winter tradition that blends holiday cheer with the opening of the museum’s Winter Exhibitions. The annual celebration is free and open to all ages.
“This year, our annual Light the Night celebration coincides with the opening of our winter exhibitions,” said Meagan Evans, Manager and Curator at the St. George Museum of Art. “The Heart of St. George: Selections from the Permanent Collection commemorates the 35th anniversary of the St. George Museum of Art and features works selected by the mayor, city council and city manager. This show features never-before-displayed pieces alongside treasured favorites from the museum’s archive. We are also celebrating the opening of a new exhibition by Utah artist Clinton Whiting, Veiled Support, which beautifully complements the ongoing installation by Stephanie Leitch.”
Guests will be able to explore all three Winter Exhibitions during the event:
• The Heart of St. George: Selections from the Permanent Collection
• Veiled Support by Clinton Whiting
• Heaven and Earth: Attached by One Pillar by Stephanie Leitch
In addition to exhibition openings, Light the Night offers hands-on activities and holiday treats. Visitors can create a luminary craft, enjoy donuts and hot chocolate, and listen to live music performances throughout the evening.
“Watching this long-standing tradition at the museum grow is so exciting each year,” said KC Carter, Special Events and Programming Specialist at the St. George Museum of Art. “We invite everyone out to make a luminary and enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and donuts graciously provided by Zions Bank.”
Light the Night will be held at the St. George Museum of Art, located at 47 East 200 North in historic downtown St. George. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM.
